Fantastic stuff.
Looking forward to the Ron Howard Film, 'Rush'. Bit early that the clip, but the spirit is the same.
The checkered history of motorracing films made be a bit uneasy, but the attention to detail and the effort so far gone into filming makes it sounds pretty good.

Agreed, makes me misty-eyed everytime I see that clip. Remember watching the '79 French GP on CBS Sports Spectacular that afternoon on same day tape delay. That dive down the inside by GV on Rene to start the next to last lap in still a thing of beauty, even after all these years. Rene had to be thinking "where the f**k did he come from?" Its interesting years ago MotorSport did a review of the greatest drives in racing history, some were totally bogus, but completely agreed with their nomination of both Rene and Gilles for the roles in the battle that afternoon. It would have been easy for one or the other to force his opponent into the boonies, but they kept it hard, but fair. Their grinning on the podium afterward said it all. Agreed Nordic, looking forward enormously to Rush, Howard seems like he's sparing no expense to make it accurate. Fax

That 1976 Daytona 500 clip is etched in the memory of every NASCAR fan old enough to remember it, Richard and David were the titans of their era, and that race, along with the '79 race are considered the two stock car races that really put NASCAR on the mainstream sports map. Was always a great fan of Pearson, while Petty was all flash, and loved the camera, Pearson was the quiet, gentle bear. But the King feared him more than any other... Interesting that the battle of '76 was probably taking place at higher speeds than they run these days at Daytona. First qualifying race just ended, Stewart wins, Danica Patrick ends waded up in a ball...good result all around! Fax

Ah the memories. Can anyone else remember when rallying was great? If you can't here is a reminder. 2012 Legend Boucles de Spa. Watch out for Gwydaf Evans in a rather noisy Group B Mazda RX7. I remember watching Rod Millen and Ingvar Carlsson driving these in the 1985 RAC rally through a very dark Dalby. You could here them do the full 25 mile stage over all the other cars! Long time since I've seen taking a hand off the wheel to change gear.... and it can't be easy to judge the apex of corners. MG Mark
