I'm not sure of the protocol these days for posting possible dates etc what with the new CA calendar and all that. However, it's that bloody time of year again and I think we need to agree a date for the 4th annual Club Arnage London Piss-up.
Much as I famously despise Christmas and everything it's become (indeed my Scrooge-like tendencies are widely admired), can I suggest Friday 8th December as probably the best day. It's unlikely to clash with too many other festive things folk tend to do in the following weeks. Also that same pub as last year was a very good venue, even though the toilet cleaner was unlikely to have recieved a Christmas bonus such was the amazing stench of the filthy urea-encrusted facilities. I think it was called The Duchess of Duke Street or something.
Are we agreed?

Great Idea Andy, Do you mean the Princess Louise that had the party on upstairs? Memory is always a bit vaque after the event! That night i believe is free. (It would be a good excuse to use when not wanted to go out with work for the bordom that is the boss telling what a good year it was! ) If we go for that pub the only thing I really remeber was the time taken to get a drink from the bar! There are loads of pubs that will accomodate us better round the area. May I suggest Smiths of Smithfields AKA SOS?

I sometimes use Smith's restaurant on the top floor, it's run by John Terode from Masterchef, the best steaks in Londontown. However, it's a bit off the beaten track and there's not a great deal else around there. Handy for Farringdon station though if that's your priority. I do think a grisly pub is more in keeping!

....However, it's a bit off the beaten track .... Farringdon has 50!! Bars!! It is has a tube on the Circle/Hammersmith/Met Lines and ThamesLink, is only 5 minutes walk from Blackfriars and Central Line tubes. The main problem is that most bars in London at that time of year are packed on a friday night! I will not be able to do the friday after due to First Great Western making my last train home at 10pm instead of 2335!!!

Why can't we book a room somewhere ( no not that sort of thing). There must be function rooms available for a few (hundred) quid where we don't have half of Europe trooping past us all night looking for parties. Other than that I did quite enjoy the bustle of a busy London pub but standing up all night is not one of my favourite past times. Drinking is however so I'll be there. I suppose it depends on how many plan to go.

Can't do the 8th unfortunately - it's the date of the 3rd "Thames Valley Tax Evaders Sports and Social Club Annual Christmas Dinner"
1.00 PM start in Marlow.
Last man standing (and fellow LM'er) last year rolled in home at 6.15 AM the following day. Good work!
Have fun though!

What area of London do we want to go to? http://www.function-rooms-uk.co.uk/search.htmSearching for either 1 to 10 people or 10 to 50 with bar available shows 220 places in London.

I may be able to book the "Old Mitre" in Holborn, It has a small function room and is a very very old pub tucked away in Hatton Garden would hold maximum of 50 people.
