http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BkxxpMI__5oBaby Bertha and Gerry Marshall. Special saloons in the 70's. Makes the plastic BTCC look a bit tame.

great clip - nice to see all those old cars. There was quite a bit of extra ballast he was carrying compared to the skinny lil drivers these days F

First class bit of nostalgia. Well spotted Nordic.
Luvverly to hear a minimally silenced V8 in a 'saloon' car.

I wonder if we'll look back on the current races/cars/drivers the same way.
I think we might so its one of my excuses not to miss another Le Mans, even though it has been a bit tedious recently (the race that is)
But it does seem to have been a lot better in those days

Thats a very good point. In some ways the DTV cars where looked upon by some as a sledgehammer to crack a nut. When you compare the relative resourses of them compared to the rest of the field it is possble to draw a light parrel with the VAG team in the the modern world. The Bertha cars dominated the series almost winning as they liked, and the special saloon series was never the same again. Having said that, its a great car and my belief, then as now, its up to the others to a better job!
