The others could tap Ford or BL competition departments for parts & expertise - Vauxhall weren't in the game at all until Bill Blydenstien started developing the HA Viva, even then there was no factory support. DTV and enthusiasts at Luton was the only way it could be done. There were plenty of other tuning companies around who could have built their own special saloons.
