Does anyone know why it's so called?

Or why it smells so bloody good?

WD-40 literally stands for Water Displacement, 40th attempt. That's the name straight out of the lab book used by the chemist who developed WD-40 back in 1953. The chemist, Norm Larsen, was attempting to concoct a formula to prevent corrosion—a task which is done by displacing water. Norm's persistence paid off when he perfected the formula on his 40th try.

From thier website.

Don't know why you like the smell, but I would seek advice from other areas of this forum if I were you! Grin

Indeed, all the tools that a man needs for every job on a car.   If it moves and shouldn't, apply duct tape.   If it doesn't move and should, apply WD-40 and hit with a hammer.   The latter should work on the first or second attempt, let alone the 40th....... Grin

Never tried WD40 on kids - does it stop that high pitched sqeaking noise they make early mornings when you have a hangover?

WD 40 claims to have over a thousand uses, but I notice that they have missed one of the most important ones from their list. It is really good for removing the glue left on your windscreen by the Le Mans car park stickers Grin

This film should be played at high volume, so don't come complaining about it! And who the hell is Steve?

After 9 years of LM and 3 classics the windscreen would be useless to look out of!

Erm, I did until last week when a crack propagated across my windscreen which resulted in Autograss binning it  Angry
