Looking at the runway at Le Mans, I reckon that a BA146 (Holds about 100 folk) could get in there quite easily, Probably costs £10K an hour, an hour each way, £200 PP to arrive in (admittedly lightweight) style.

I may look into this further.

Would be very cool, especially if you'd get the CA-logo on the tail too! Cool

And the DFH logo on the other side?

But then the words 'lightweight' and 'drinking for holland' don't exactly go hand in hand. Grin

Yeah, guess so Undecided

Would be a little over the top to get a ferry to Dover and eventually leave my car at Heathrow to take a flight to Le Mans though, so don't worry about me too much Wink

Sorry to rain on the parade, but a) you're missing the extortionate landing fees LM airport charges for the race weekend; b) the landing fees wherever you're returning to in the UK; and c) the fact that you'd presumably have to pay for the jet to return to the UK empty after flying everyone out there, then going back to LM empty to pick everyone up - unless you're rich enough to pay to have it packed in LM for days on end!

get a huey, get there early enough to land safely in the camping field, leave it there for the week, wait for everyone to be gone to be safe to fire it up and then leave.

I would like to see teh supersoaker brigade get a huey on fly past!  Cool

I think this would only be of use to those that need to leave late and get back early.

So arrive say early morning on Saturday and return on Sunday evening.

I know a couple of pilots, one commercial and one private. I know one has flown in on race weekend several years on the trot. I will quiz them both on the subject.

I'm sure they will know how to locate plane too!

There's a charter operator that has a BN Islander (16 seats) who can fly to LM from the impressively London Ashford Airport (Lydd) but I suspect that this won't come cheap.

It may be possible to avoid paying positioning charges (Flying the plane back between trips) if the plane has no other bookings, but Le Mans airport doesn't have fire cover tor a BA 146, and a 737 might not quite have enough runway to be comfortable.

If I'm coming next year, it'll have to be a Fri PM / Sat AM - out, SUN PM back jobby.........

I would have to keep charlie waiting in foxholes around the camp site, that'll get rid of the pikeys. Then as we leave and the pikeys take over......................I love the smell of napalm in the morning, smells like victory

Ok I don't know anybody with a jet aeroplane.

But I know someone who has a jet engine. Which is very loud when running. last time he ran he use a sainsbury shopping trolley. His plan was to fix it to a push bike ! not sure what happened.

Now that would be loud!
