Hi All,

I'm not a very regular visitor to the Forum, so forgive me if I've missed this topic being discussed elsewhere!

Am I the only who was dissappointed the Gendarmes had closed off the bottom of the track Friday afternoon and evening? I presume it was to prevent any "horse-power-play" but I thought they had quietened it down enough last year with the speed cameras.
To me parking up on the verges by Arnage/Indianapolis and watching the mobile car show is one of the highlights off the weekend, I can accept the march of progress/safety requires we can't tear though there at speed anymore, but surely with proper policing cruising could be allowed? I think it added to congestion and mayhem elsewhere too.

Yeah, this was a real shame.  Next year come to the Great British Welcome at Saint Saturnin instead.  Serious collection of cars, lovely people and fairly priced booze etc.  Run by locals (both English and French) - a smashing time had by all.

St Saturnin is just north of Le mans on the N138.  Instead of picking up the A28 just past ZI Nord, by the Buffalo Grill, go up the N138 - its only a couple of clicks up there.

Is it a cruise of sorts? (without beer/water being hurled at cars) decent food?

Last year Fran and I went there to see Johhhhhhhhhny Herbert and have a photo taken with him, plenty of pics on the web if you look.

Each year a different car marque is celebrated, this year it was AM and last it was Lotus.

It is a real event almost like a fete thrown by the village, plenty to see and do, even a band plays, lasts all day so you can turn up for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

most certainly worth going for a few hours.  if you go have a look for the Ferrari 250 GTO made from a Datsun Angry

just do a search on the web for Great British Welcome St Saturnin, you'll even get a map for for a scenic drive in the country side with refreshment stops.

Rode round the circuit friday afternoon, very pleasant riding to Indianapolis with no traffic. Ran out of beer though!

i think they closed it off due to the qty of burnouts etc happening.

however, they did take quite a few euro's in speeding fines.

I think it was shortly after they stopped the Burnouts that the road was closed.
Plod came down the road lights flashing and removed the flag from the "starter" and that was that.
I would have thought that this was where they made most of the fines as they had the camera about 250 yrds along the road from the flagman.
Still some nice cars to drool over though.

Once they took the flags off us, we decided it was time to call it a day.

Everyone who was stopped was warned of the speed trap further up the road!

You tell me the answers for Sebring, and I'm more than happy to help.

Are you there for the week or just the race.  What are you prepared to suffer?
