A few years ago they made a film involving Le Mans, they even put dummy cars in the race.
What was the name of the film?
Was it released?
Was it any good?

How much do you want to pay me, to take your copy off your hands?

I think the film you're referring to is 'Michel Valliant' (2003).  It was only released in France on DVD and is in French with no English subtitles. I've heard the plot wasn't very good - but the footage of racing is worth seeing. By the way, the 'dummy' cars seemed to be racing pretty hard to me, despite all the camera equipment strapped to them. I think Luc Besson (the director) basically said go as fast as you like - just don't crash!!! I seem to remember both cars came into the pits on Sunday morning - then emerged about an hour before the finish to end the race as the film's plot dictated.

I've never seen the film, but would love to see it just to see if our group appear anywhere. I remember several large black helicopters with film cameras on the side hovering over the crowd before the start. I think I remember Radio Le Mans getting all the spectators to cheer at the same time in the build up to the race so it could be captured on film.

Anyone got the film on DVD and wouldn't mind doing me a copy?  Grin

Available from Amazon.fr for 7.95 euros.  Be careful it's michel vaillant, not michelle (he's a bloke) when you're searching.

Do you mean the recent one (Michel Valliant) or the McQueen movie of the early seventies?

I assumed they meant Michel Vaillant with the Panoz dressed up for the occasion.  This is the film I refer to as available from amazon.fr.

Oh yes, and beware... the Michel Valliant movie is not ABOUT Le Mans its about MV. It just has some sequences filmed at Le Mans.

I agree it's a pretty average film but at that price it's worth a watch for the (typically, cartoon-unbelievable) race stuff.

The MV movie has two main characters, MV himself and a chap called "Leader". MV was in a French blue Courage (I think) and "Leader" was in the red Panoz. But as I said, the Le Mans sequence is only a small part of the movie as a whole.
