Everyone remember this? Of all the winners I've seen, it was probably my second favourite. Just a reminder of the ear-splitting wail....

You're either at Le Mans, or waiting for Le Mans!

Ah yes 91. That was my first year.

Sometimes, on a dark Winters night when the moon is obscured by clouds, all is still with not even a mouse stirring, I wake up in a cold sweat and I am sure I can still hear that infernat wailing.

My all time favourite sports car, the car that won on my first visit to Le Mans.
I loved the colour scheme and the car just looked right.

I recently aquired AutoArt's 1/18th scale diecast of this very car, as payment for a model I built for a friend.

The model is absolutely stunning and made from over 360 seperate parts. The front and rear body sections lift off and both doors are also hinged to open. Its quite simply the best 1/18th I have ever seen and comes at a very reasonable £99.00. Well worth the money if you can afford it.

And the first year of the new pits. I managed to climb up the overhead walkway where they now present the prizes (that year they used the circular stairs on the garandstand) walk into the office the other side, and pinch the finish flag.
The Mazda used to be a favourite of the RLM pit lane crew, having to wait till it had gone past before they could speak!

Never argue with an idiot, they'll only drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
