Hope everyone has a fanatastic bank holiday weekend (sorry for those who don't have one  Grin

We're off to Snet for the 2CV 24 Hour - pics to follow next week!!   We're treating it as a bit of a trial run for "the" 24 hour - the Saab is currently sitting on the driveway groaning with the weight of camping gear  Grin

Have a good one - see you all next week  Grin

Sounds like a good pre LM conditioner.
I hope the SAAB does better than the 2cv's and gets you there and back.
Have a good un, safe journey piglet

Piglet,

Any chance you could try and find out some info or pick up any printed info on the requirements or basic costs to enter this event. It always looks fun and reasonably cheap but costs could be deceptive. Have always fancied clubbing together to build a car and enter it someday.

Also what are the license requirements etc.

Thanks
Regards

Hi Chris sorry I was already on my way when you posted!

It was, as ever, a fantastic event, although it was, as ever, wet, cold and windy - what is it about Snetterton!!!

You'd need a National B licence to compete in the event and the teams range from those who are very competitive and pay drivers to come along and those who are a group of blokes who have clubbed together to buy and race a car.   It's really good fun, there are a number of people I know who'd quite like to put a team together to do this and it can be done fairly cheaply I think.

The 2CV racing club website is here http://www.2cvracing.co.uk/ they are all very friendly and if you go along to one of their other race meetings no doubt they'll talk to you about costs etc.  The ability to change a 2CV engine in around 8 minutes is a required skill I believe!!

I used to be involved in the 2CV championship, and the 24hr races, although in my time they were at Mondello in Eire Grin Grin
If I can help with any info just shout.
I didnt race I just put the car together and looked after it during the season and the 24hrs.
Best team is 3/4 drivers, team manager, 2 good mechanics, and 4 or 5 others who know there way around the car, plus a couple of people to share the pit board duties, that way everyone can get a break etc and there are still enough to sort the car at pit stops. Oh and dont forget the guys doing the refuelling.
We used to do engine changes in 12mins from memory so 8 is very very good.
