So, Its me again with some more questions about my first lemans experience

What kind of freedom do you have in the circuit ?

What places can I acces without a grandstand ticket ? Can I go to the grandstands at "low people attendace times" ?

Do you think arriving on thursday afternoon can be problematic in finding a good place in BJS camping ?

Hello again Grin

I'm sure you will get plenty of answers from the Ca'ers.  What sort of freedom are you looking for?  Do you mean where can you roam?  Or something else?

Roaming wise,  all the public areas, which excludes behind the pits but you do get a pit walkabout on Friday.  The track from about Masion Blanche to Tertre Rouge, look on this web site for viewing areas and look in the help section for circuit maps.  All of the historic pits during the week, including the tyre area, if you fancy a race tyre or wheel hang around here on Sunday about 17:00.

Obviously there are off circuit viewing areas at Arnage and Mulsanne, again look in the help section.

Grandstands are for grandstand tickets holders I'm afraid and there will be ACO staff checking tickets all through the race even at 02:00, not sure what it is like during practice on Wednesday and Thursday, you may have some luck then.

Not only will you find space for BSJ on Thursday, you could also by tickets for BSJ on Saturday for a mate if needs be.

Hard to say what the public area of the track will be like especially the Village as it has been torn down, but the atmosphere is just awesome so there will be plenty to do, have no worries.

Wednesday/Thursday qualifing you can go into any grandstand you like, without tickets, great for checking out were to buy a ticket for next year. During the race, as FS says, almost no chance of blagging your way in.

Thanked God I had a grandstand ticket last year, in the shade almost all day on the ACO side of the track. Cool Cool

When the sun's out they are definitely cool, and its somewhere to park your bum at the start and finish when the place is packed, and in the middle of the night too.

However, you must have a good wander around

I would agree with that, don't just sit there thinking about getting your monies worth from the seat, get out and about as well..
First year I went I parked my bike just outside the main entrance, so could easily pop out to Arnage/Mulsanne when I wanted to.

Hi McKafre

Welcome to CA, we are also on BSJ as we were last year, and what Steve says is right, and you shouldn't struggle to get a spot arriving on Thursday afternoon. Thats when we arrive too. However, BSJ is massive, and you shouldn't expect to be in the 1st field as it will probably all have gone. If you just want a small space you may be able to squeeze into the second field, but the most likely scenario and if you want a bit more space you will be in the third field. Thats where we expect to be, the third field is about 5-10 minutes walk from the front gate.

Mr Lawnmower man, when are you arriving on BSJ? And which field are you planning to be in?
May'be if we ask him nice he might save us some space as I think he is probably arriving a few days earlier than us. If we ask him real nice he might give our plots a once over with his mower for us.

Thats a good point Barry, opposite the pits all the grandstands are in shade, ACO grandstand best as there is a bar/cafe area, great for retreating into when it gets too hot or noisy, TV's for keeping up with the race, good toilets as well.

can you use your bike inside ?  I think i should stop going to F1 races where everything is prohibited

Are there bike for rent ? my seat Leon will not cope with 2 bikes and tent and everything Smiley

Are we talking motorbikes or pushbikes here?

I think if you do a search of the forum this is discussed previously somewhere.

You can definately take your pushbike into the circuit, but i think motorbikes need special passes.

For bike read motorbike.
Some people seem to be able to get pushbikes in during the race, I suspect from campsites inside the circuit ie Maison blanche. Only time I took a pushbike I was going to try and get it in, but a puncture which totalled the tyre prevented me using it.
Rick Cutler's the expert as far as using a pushbike at LM.

you can take the mini motorbikes around, i've even seen them on the track after the race has finished on sunday Grin  Mr Robbo sps always has a selection with him.

We've used bikes and gopeds, but whilst the cars are on the circuit there are just too many people around to get in the way.  Fine for Friday etc

Hi Jay

Tom, Doris & I, based on previous form will be on BSJ around mid-day.  Last year we roped off a CA enclave for ourselves, Bobblehat, Whitey and few friends, of quite staggering proportions - none of the space disadvantages of MB on BSJ  Wink only a small plus point!

I suspect a similar service may be offered again this year.  As for the location in BSJ the plum spots appear to be disappearing earlier and earlier - in '03 we had good spot in the first field, in '04 we had to take a spot in the second field, last year we had to move to the third field to get the space we wanted, arrival time was about mid-day in each case.
