Just heard about a piece of roofing tumbling after a loud bang of the New Wembley, workers seem evacuated.  Was just on the Dutch radio  |

Yep, my mate who works on site is standing ousite along with 3500 others while an investigation happens.
The load bang was followed by the roof dropping a couple of feet.
edit to say.
All seems ok now a beam slipped, it won't fall down!

On the news they said that the company is paying £125,000 per day for the delay, so thats about £0.75 million per week or there abouts for failing to acheive the practical completion date.
Also they will be picking up the wages for all the workers that have been sent home because of the beam collapse.
say 3,500 workers x £300 per day = £1 million.
Will the stadium get finished?

The new Cardiff Arms park will be used. Its been planned for for a while.

The longer the better - half my contractors work on that site! keep em there!! The best story i've heard is the irish bookies "paddy power" being taken to the cleaners by the multiplex contractors when they started giving odds on the stadium not being ready. They took over £100,000 in bets before they realised this was probably not a great idea - one of the contractors who works through my comapny put £22,000 on.....  |

Depends what theyre doing really - sparkies and plumbers take about £160 - £170 a shift, dependant on qualifications and loyalty bonuses and a couple of other things.
My specialist area is Quantity Surveyors, the going rate for an MRICS QS with about 5 years post qualification experience is about the £350 per day mark, again dependant on experience and qualifications, some of them take about £275, some of them you have to push to about the £500 mark....
I'm a recruitment consultant just to be clear, not a consultancy punting people out to work on site - most of my work is done through consultancies, who then charge the client, main contractor, or whoever asks them for the work of the worker that I've supplied - i daresay by the time they've indemnified all of the work, made theyre margins etc that theyre looking at about £600 - 700 per day to the client!
big numbers, none of which help the stadium get built!
the guy that put £22,000 put half his life savings on - his wife nearly divorced him for it....imagine the hassle the missus would give you if you did that!
