Sounds like most of the CAer's in Florida missed heavy damage from Wilma.  Here is an early Thanksgiving card for those folks.  Turn up the sound and enjoy!!!!

Us ignorant lot in the UK, and me in particualr, are always a bit mystified about precisely what it is you yankee-doodle-doos are giving thanks for. It just doesn't register on our radars! Is it something to do with Independence?  Huh

Maybe it's rather similar to us have Bonfire Night on November 5th every year, but not surprisingly no one in the USA seems to know anything about it.

Anyway, happy thanks giving.

You're either at Le Mans, or waiting for Le Mans!

I always thought thanksgiving was the US equivalent of our Harvest festival.

Found the answer on this

Seems like Guy Fawkes or Bonfire is more like Halloween rather than the Pilgrims giving thanks for a good crop and hopeful survival for the harsh winter coming up.

If the Autumn (sorry Fall) is like this, what are the Winters like?

It's just a great excuse to stuff your face, drink your arse off and assault your brother-in-law in backyard football if you are so inclined.
