As someone who usually books with a tour operator I have no experience with booking direct with the ACO. We are not camping next year (we normally pay over the odds for camping passes but always get what we want) so we thought we would take advantage of cheaper Tribune prices by booking direct. So I need the help and expertise of an ACO booking veteran please.

1. I can't find a 2006 booking form on lemans.org. Do I complete a 2005 form and cross out 2005, replacing it with 2006?

2. If that is the case, what do they want me to put in the 4th and 5th columns (Required No FROM & TO), it makes no sense to me? Huh

3. I assume I leave the 'Total Euros column on the right hand side of the form blank?

4. Assuming I have followed a correct procedure up to this point, what happens next?

5. Have I ballsed-up completely to this point, should start again, and if so, what should I be doing?

If my questions have been covered elsewhere on this forum, my apologies. I looked but didn't find.

My thanks in advance to anyone willing to help. Smiley

i think you should check regularly on the aco web site or send them an email
and they will get in touch when the time is right

if you only want tribune tickets and GA passess there is not the rush there is for campsite allocation

things get going next year, or speak to them at silverstone in august as they did have a tent and tressel table out at last years race

Tubs, your post makes perfect sense.  Cross out 2005, write in 2006 and don't put anything in the from / to and price.

Then fax the form to the ACO or use the email address.

It works for me every year.

My sincere thanks for your help Steve. It was a bit like an old Airfix kit with a few bits missing and no instructions. I had a pretty good idea of how to procede but lacked the confidence to do so without a second opinion. It can be quite daunting going head to head with the ACO. Wink

Once I've sent my request, what should I expect back from the ACO, and when?

Tubs,

Initially the subject of this thread: http://www.clubarnage.com/forum/index.php?topic=4015.0

This should be followed by a formal offer of tickets around October/November time. This formal offer of tickets may not be exactly what you have requested, depending on how far you are down the ACO's list (based on first come first served basis). Any of your request that they cannot satisfy at that time may be shown as on a 'reserve' list.

Agreed with Ron Jeremy re: the tribune tickets EXCEPT if you are disposed to book ACO Tribunes. There are a finite no. of seats and high demand.

Thanks pretzel!

Well, the request should now be with the ACO and our fate is in their hands.

We have frequented what is now the Leonard tribune for quite a number of years now, but decided that it was time to move on. A number of our party, myself included, found the race commentary on Radio Le Mans to be less comprehensive than in past years. Trying to follow race positions in each class (with the exception of the leading 2 or 3 cars) was nigh on impossible. So we are hoping to move to the Sommer tribune next year to take advantage of the giant screen opposite.

Thanks again to those who posted assistance. Club Arnage's reputation as 'THE' Le Mans site for those in need of advice remains very much intact. My compliments to Club Arnage. Grin

My crowd use the Sommer tribune and we find the large screen very useful for keeping up to date with the race action - recommended.

Steve, I'm glad to hear Sommer has your endorsement!

I do however have one concern about the tribune given our motives for moving there. As you'll be aware I'm sure, the circuit is due to have further changes over the next couple of years, not least of which is the addition of 5 extra garages and the movement of the pit exit further towards the Dunlop chicane in order to accomodate them. By my reckoning the giant screen will also be subject to relocation. But where? Angry

From an ACO press release, the additional pit garages are due for completion in 2007.

So we've got one more year to worry  Grin

If you want all this info all the time then the best grandstand will be the ACO. They have TV screens inside giving both the pictures you see on the 'Diamondvision' screens around the circuit, side by side with a separate timing screen giving race positions, in real time.

The big screen at the pit exit is currently EASILY visible from both ACO and Sommer (next up the pit straight towards Dunlop) so I don't really think that the addition of a few pit garages will make a significant difference to it's legibility from these stands.

You're right, pretzel. I weasled my way in a couple of years ago with a colleague who holds ACO membership. Excellent facilities (even the bogs were miraculously clean!).

And if I thought for one moment that I would be guaranteed seats in the ACO tribune, I would become an ACO member immediately. But I am aware of members who cannot get seats and tour operators who are given allocations.

We're way off topic here but the ACO's  flagrant breaching of their own rules infuriates me. I wouldn't miss the race for the world, but to plough more money into the ACO's coffers when they behave so poorly towards their members, no way!!

I'm filling in my payment form having received my offer from the ACO. Quick question:

In:
Date:

Signature:

I'm reasonably confident I've managed to fill in the date and my signature correctly. But I'm a bit stumped on what I'm expected to fill in next to the 'In:'. Could somebody please give me a clue?

Thank you! Smiley

Where you are at (the town will do).  French cheques always have 'fait a' for the place name where you are at when you made out the cheque.

So it wouldn't have mattered how long I was sat here scratching my head, I would never have got there!! Wink

Judging by the tales of woe I've read on the 'I've got my allocation....' thread in the Discussion forum, I can consider myself lucky. My first time booking direct with the ACO and they've allocated exactly what I asked for.Cool
