Speed Ferries turned out pretty good.  Only a half hour delay leaving and non returning.  Quick to load and once they'd got all four gas turbines running quick to cross.

However, much as I do enjoy seeing France (which is still very different to Britain) I'm very tempted by a Portsmouth Caen crossing next year.

So, how about we all lobby Speed Ferries to pick up P&O's defunct route.  With a Fastcraft it would only be two or three hours and at Speed Ferries price, nice!

That would be Ideal, but I think there would be alot of opposition to it from the other ferry companies - not that that has stopped them before.

Who could oppose that? There's only one company running that route now and that's shittany ferries. In the interests of competition and fair trade I think it would be an excellent idea.

Yes but the same should apply for Dover (with far more services on offer) but they have had all sorts of grief.

The reason they've had so much grief is because there are so many services on offer. Dover is now the only French departure for P&O and Sea France and Hoverspeed only operate from there.

Contrast that to Brittany ferries who pretty well own the rest of the south coast routes and speedferries would be very welcome by many people.

I thought the Brittany Ferries Portsmouth - Cherbourg fast cat was great, although the chairs were a little uncomfortable coming home Sad
