The tetre rouge campsite doesn't seem to be marked on the maps. Is it inside the track? What is it like?
Thanks

Its the bit that says Aire d' Accuil du Tetre Rouge which is on the right near the bottom on the campsite map here.

Tetre rouge is inside the circuit above the esses and right near the funfair A great campsite for the pure petrol head but it is very noisy and you should make sure that you leave nothing hanging about as it is notorious for things going missing I have camped there for many years but this year was not allocated a ticket if you have any spare I would be happy to buy them. This year I have been allocated tickets at Beausjour which is near the Porsche curves.

We camped at the Tetre Rouge last year, never again Sad
I still have the permit in the windscreen of the car to remind me of how bad things can get!

Here's my list of problems:-

Although were the third car on site on the Monday morning we still struggled to find a flat, rubble free pitch.
We were robbed three times.
Noise from the funfair.
Dust, dust and more dust!!
40 minutes to get in and out through the crowds on race day.
etc, etc.
On the plus side a great view from the comfort of your tent, but not this year as I have heard there may well be temporay stands in the way Sad

We will be back in MB this year Smiley

I camped at tetre rouge for one night in 2001.

The traffic from the dual carriage way just over the wall started very early so a decent nights sleep was out (even before the start of the race).
So I moved on to find a better site.

Houx was much better with showers and almost decent bogs, and almost tranquil til the disco started!

Oh yea! forgot about the traffic from the autoroute.
Now, I don't mind the sound of a Panoz keeping me awake at night but I do object to a Mercedes truck!

Have camped here for many a year. Dust OK if you get to the top end of the site. No noise from the funfair now it has moved and a great view of the new part of the track from the Dunlop Bridge to Esses for Qualifying.

Just put earplugs in and the early morning traffic is not a problem.
see you there again this year

i know i'm tempting fate but we've been in tertre rouge for the last few years and had no problems with stuff going awol.  the position is great as you are only a few yards from the track and some of the best general admission viewing points, and if you're lucky you can see the track from your tent.  we arrived on thursday pm last year and got a pitch which allowed us to see dunlop bridge to esses from our bbq.
it can be noisy but only on sat night.  if you don't like the noise then stay at home.  it's also uphill incase we do get the flashfloods some of the weather sites are predicting.
and this has nothing to do with the fact that i have 2 tertre rouge camping tickets to sell.....
honest.
