I agree Spidey, the guy in the roller was amazing. I don't think i have ever seen such a large car accelerate so damm fast. It was a site to behold. I am just annoyed my photos didn't come out very well.

In some sort of order...

1. Helicopter ride over the track during the race.
2. Friday afternoon & evening in our favourite spot in town for the drivers parade.
3. Seeing the Aston pull out of the pit to complete the race
4. Fireworks display at the HA roundabout on Sunday night
5. A drunken lass walking over to us on HA to tell us her knickers were wedged "...up her crack" !

You don't win Le Mans - you outlast it.

Not a memorable moment but a good laugh I had this morning when I received a mail from my brother. His little son (2,5 years) got one of those diecast 1:43 models of the 2002 LM Audi last Christmas (from me of course). Anyway, they did the family shopping on Saturday and in one shop there were TVs running. One of them was showing the 24 hour race. As soon as the little one saw one of the Champion Audis on TV he was cheering and shouting "Audi, Audi, Audi !!!" Grin (must be the genes). People around looked shocked and bewildered  according to my brother. This made me laugh. So I thought I share it.

I don't care - I'm a racing driver and I'm here to win, not to finish third.

Perhaps my most memorable moment was on Friday afternoon. I was walking round the paddock for the cars for the Classic warm up race, when I recognised the rear end of an Aston Martin Spa Special up on jacks. I then recognised the bum of an old friend I have not seen for over 15 years sticking out from under the car Shocked

This car belongs to the family, and I knew that it was raced on a regular basis, but I had no idea they were racing down at LM. After making a few typical off the wall Mr. Invisible type comments, Dave (the driver) finally recognised me and in true Dave fashion promptly had me giving him a hand within 30 seconds. It would appear that during the practise, they had managed to get a brake fluid leak and crack the front axle mount (I think!). Anyway, I gave him a hand finishing the brake repairs and my brother stopped by later and gave him and the co-driver a hand with the front end problem (they had a spare flown out from the UK).

After Dave and co-driver had worked on the car most of the night, they went on to win their class  Grin

So, can I claim to be one of the few winning Aston Martin mechanics at Le Mans in 2005?  Shocked

Anyway, here is the only decent picture I have of the car.

There is more information about this particular car at the bottom of this web page Click Here for Details

1) Nearly getting arrested by Lofty the Gendarme on Pilotes parade becuase I crashed over the fence to get random Harley Girls Signatures - rather than Actual Drivers - I ended up writing Le Comte de Monte Cristo on my T Shirt tinking I was dead funny!! (Total Arse!)
2) Getting shipped home in a taxi by my mates cos I was rudely paraletic After #1 - leaving three of them to take 5 bikes back up to HA...
3) Seeing 700 quids worth of fireworks go up in 12 minutes on Sunday night in Houx Annexe
4) Vanina
5) Watching the Lem Radio Pit Reporter run up and down in blazing heat and listening to them try to carry out an interview!
6) Aston #59 coming out for last 20mins or so
