Just in case any of you are unsure about the rules for calling shotgun, this website lists them all. I wouldn't suggest using the Survival of the Fittest rule in ferraris or porkers etc.

simple rule- who-ever gets there first takes it. From that point in, food/toilet/whatever breaks, law of the jungle kicks in and it is free sport once again.

Ah the fun we have had fighting over shotgun, and as we all know it is all the more important on the way to LM to have good eyes for the overtaking, and a clear throat for shouting "CLEAR" thus alerting your pilor to drop a cog, pull out and floor it with nowt but blind faith in their shotgun.

Ah yes, the shouting of "CLEAR!"   Two years ago when trying to overtake a tractor in a slow car with a lrge trailer, thye question was asked "Is it clear?" and the reply from the Shotgun seat was "Ish!"  Roll Eyes

"ish" fantastic, sure to make you feel good with no line of sight.

Often easier in such situations to ustilise a lay by, smoky and the bandit style, only in a Mini not a trans am.

Also had teh shocking experience of overtaking an arctic on teh motorway on teh hard shoulder whilst shot gun in an integra type R as the overtaking lane was "busy", funny at the time, and to be honest it still is, but still worrying. Imagine if you saw a non national doingthat on the M4, oh how i would be complaining.

Reminds me of the scrap my cousin and I had over shotgun on the peripherique, both hung over in rush hour paris traffic the driver had stopped to read the map, we ended up rolling around on the hard shoulder with bemused parisian commuters watching us funny but I chundered!

Then does any one remember Ronnie from fast bikes magazine? Well he popped his front wheel in the air at 95MPH down the hard shoulder undertaking a shocked looking dutch lorry driver, we were in a 911 on the other side trying to keep up with the mad b*****d..:-)

Its when you say is it clear, they say yes, You pull out and nearly hit the big F***ing red truck. Then they say oh yea - after that truck!

Perhaps I should have strapped them to the front of the car, like mad max II.

After that truck, it was very tempting.

My co pilot is usually fast asleep or to drunk to trust Shocked.
Mind you, driving a double cab pick up i don't get to overtake too much!!

Our motor this year is Left Hand drive import from the US. I get shotgun by default (not because I am driving but I know how to read a map should the satnav stuff up!

I know i should know where it is know but I always miss the exit at Caen and the Le Mans circuit exit on the ring road.
