First, I wish to express my sincere gratitude to all those that have helped me in organizing my trip.  You guys have made a somewhat intimidating solo adventure into a country I have never been much less intimidating.   Now I am looking forward to it even more now what I have a group of folks to find in the Campaigne Bar at 9 on Sat (how big is this freakin' place anyway?)  I am sure they are all Brut's from California, right?  Tongue

I have come to the conclusion that viewing the pits in the middle of the night from the grandstands is something I want to pursue and try to make happen.  Do I have to be in the grandstand to do this?  Standing behind the Audi pit at Sebring with all the telemetry, etc was amazing, but because of all the motorhomes down the front stretch, viewing from across the track was nearly impossible.

Does anyone have a ticket I could buy?  What about borrow for a couple of hours in exchange for a few cold brews?  How do I make this happen?

Perdu, Steve, John, JPChenet, Fran, KPY, RedStu, Chris24, you are the best.  I owe you a round or two!

We've got 14 grandstand seats between 24 of us so I'm sure you can borrow one of ours for a few hours on Saturday night!!!

Some are opposite the pits. some are directly above, so you can try both!!

Apart from the start n finish when the terraces across from  pits/in front of grandstands are jam packed, you can get a pretty good view of the pits action just standing - and if its something significant there is usually an intrepid cameraman in amongst it getting the pictures which are relayed onto the big screens if you can find a spot where you can see one!

But obviously JPC offer of a timeshare in a nice comfy seat is better, also a chance to rest the feet after all the walking.

F

p.s. I am not sure they would let a californian brut through French customs, let alone actually DRINK it!

If I remember correctly, in previous years all grandstands (with possible exception of ACO) have been open to anyone on the pactice sessions on Wednesday & Thursday nights.

I know this is not the same as the main race, but I for one did not realise this for many years & missed out on a free seat. It is also a good chance to sample the views from various Grandstands if you are thinking of buying your own seat next year.
