Well it took me 30yrs to get to Le Mans, after going to 1000k races at Spa and the Ring in the 70's back when the 917 ruled supreme so 8 yrs isn't bad going for me! Not only were the cars special but so were the drivers, with the likes of Pedro Rodriguez, Jo Siffert, and Vic Elford making for an unforgetable experience. I remember Vic mentioning that the front of the 917 was lifting off on the Masta straight while Pedro set a lap time that would have qualified him to start the Indy 500  the same day!!
So after my first visit to Britains biggest motor race i'm back every year, but untill now have just arrived on the Wednesday  and found a layby although now it seems a bit chocker. Last year we got into Houx and before that Chapelle, previously parking in Vert and just putting the tent up. which I understand has been stopped now
I have now decided to look for a camping pass but am probably too late unless anyone knows of a pass up for grabs but don't want to pay the sharks on E bay unless I have to! In any case I will be there with a ur quattro  all being well. Well done on a top site by the way!!

Welcome Gordon!

Good luck with your search for a camping pass. Probably best to put  a "Wanted" ad in the Sell or Swap section explaining exactly what you would like.

See you down there!!!

This is our twentieth year.  We were planning a party for next year, but how would anyone tell.

We saw the Jaguars win.  It doesn't get any better.

Thanks a lot for the welcome folks, I will hope to  meet up with a few of you during my week at THE WORLDS GREATEST RACE!! The buzz I get opposite the start as they come round for the first time is  undescribable and totally unique. I've been to dozens of G P's and hundreds of other race but that feeling beats the lot, it's enough to get the eyes a bit damp!!
Anyone know what the support race is this year, as the last few have been fabulous, top machinery especially the Ferraris. The one a couple of years ago took me back to Spa in the 70's when I stood amongst five 512's as they were all being warmed up for the 1000k race-all those flat 12 engines made a glorious sound! I've got some programmes from Spa and the Ring so if I remember i'll bring them with me
Will put a requst for a camping pass up and see what happens, Cheers,Gordon.

You're either at Le Mans, or waiting for Le Mans!

Debateable that one Truck.
Bentley 2003 was a blast and I must say I enjoyed the McClaran F1 win in 95 even if they wouldn't have won if it didn't piss down.

The Green Audis and a bunch of road cars - I think not.

And how often did Bentley and McLaren win?  once?

The next time an old git tells you "those were the days" just believe it.  Now did I mention the D types and the Aston in '59
