As I'm now past the half way mark by 6 years the mid life crisis has finally caught up with me.
So I thought , I'll get a 911 as I've always wanted one (3.2 carrera would do nicely!) that should keep me right until I retire and beyond. German engineering ,something to leave the kids when I'm gone.
Classic insurance should be cheap, something to polish and drive on sundays (or to Le mans).
Wrang up this afternoon and failed at the first hurdle, where will it be parked overnight sir ? On the driveway of course just like everybody elses cars (as the garages are full of mountain bikes and freezers !)
'Sorry sir it needs to be garaged' AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH.
So what do I do now ? Clear the garage and leave it there in the damp! it might not fit anyway, I'll probably have to move house instead to a large garage with small house attached.
So my crisis deepens and will now cost far beyond my means.
So its back to the loft to play with the scalextric!!!!!
(sobs uncontrolablly)

f**k esure. I suggest you try a specialist car insurer.
We've just insured my wifes 5 year old Pontiac Trans Am with business use cover and parked on our drive (as the cobra is in the garage) with out any traumas - again using a specialist broker.
For a car like this, join an owners club and ask who they recommend for insurance. You usually get a discount for owners club membership, limiting the annual mileage and voluntary extra excess.
If you want some details of specialist brokers, let me know - I've called a few in the last month or so.

Carole Nash are VERY good as are Adrian Flux and Sure Term Direct
All these numbers would be in either classic car or Kit car magazines.

Buy the car, you wont be dissapointed, promise, if you get the right one. My insurance albeit in France is 699euros all singing and dancing p/a. not even an access on the windscreen which had to be replaced recently at a cost of 750euros!!!!
Why is it we keep our crap in the garage and leave thousands of pounds worth of motor outside?
PS, what about a shed for the garage contents?

Try looking in GT Purely Porsche or 991 and Porsche World, June editions now out. They both have a large selection of private sales and also specialist Porsche dealers.
Good luck

Stu I am on same mission - but I have a few months to prepare for my crisis...and a garage! Hope you get sorted out...any colour "issues" - for me it was going to have to be silver, but now I'm considering going back to bling bling bad boy black... http://synchronism.pipeten.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=77
