I see your point JPC, i am not sure about the technicalities of possible brewing under licence, but i dont really consider Kronenbourg to be a French stubbie.....tho i am prepared to be proved wrong.
Fran, until a few years ago, Kronenbourg brewed for bottles came entirely from Strasbourg. It wasn't until a deal was struck (by I believe Scottish and Newcastle) in about the mid 90's, that they started to bottle it over in the UK under licence. I should point out that all the Kronenbourg you find in LM IS French. Brewed and bottled
. It is for this reason, it is so much nicer than the crud we get in the UK.
I can vouch for this, because I used to work in the licenced trade, and although I would not touch the draft crap, I was always partial to a bottle of Kronenborg, until they went and screwed it up
