I saw that too Phil - but WTF? an unrestored 1953 Buick Roadmaster went for $1.5 mill (once owned by Howard Hughes, but so what?) - and a Shelby GT500E that wasn't even original (i.e. assembled from bits of other cars, so numbers didn't match) went for over $500,000.
Barrett Jackson appears to be a bit of an egotistical pissing contest to me - and run by a bunch of hucksters. Even the genuine articles (71 Hemi Challenger - $160,000 and a one-off 454 Chevelle at about the same money) were $60k more than they should have been. That said and like anything, a car is worth what the highest bidder is prepared to pay for it, I suppose - but in my humble, some folk clearly have more money than sense or taste.

Have to agree, seems like some pretty shady characters with small peckers all sitting around trying to buy the biggest penis enlargement.  Funny how alot of these cars find their way into the classified's at the back of enthusiast
magazine's within a few months at more reasonable prices,
when the buyers remorse finally sets in.  Purchasing a Caddy LMP without its engine management system for a quarter mil begs the question...Why?
It'll be in the Motor Sport classified's in a couple of months.

This sounds like we're back to the crazy days of the 80's / 90's when 1959 Caddy Eldorados, '57 T-Birds and early E-Types were changing hands for silly money - and then the world economies collapsed!

Matt I agree except the Corvette was porbably not over priced as a useable collector car? I was disappointed to see the Caddy for sale at auction so soon, as the story goes that GM was asked to sell them to a private team to continue to race them. Just when they were becoming competitive.
Pidgeon does this mean my pecker is too big to ever own one of these? or is it kust the lack of money?

Remind me to steer clear of Powermite in the future. Phil..... you never told me about your tryst with Powermite. And he knows so much. Maybe his name should be changed to peter piper.
