Afternoon chaps (and chapesses). Not a blatent plug, but I've used the cr*p weather over Easter reasonably productively - some new bits & bobs on the Beermountain. Hope you like it! http://www.beermountain.com/

Top rate as always Mr. T
Perhaps you could enlighten us a bit more regarding the associate membership, is this just for forum activities? And do we get discount on the merchandise? And finally, what are your 05 designs going to be like?
Cheers.

Yes - photos of the new gear will be posted next Friday (just debating choice of 2005 "Beer Girl"/Model). We will have a web forum at a low scale for info exchange on campsites etc, so never really in the mould of CA - however I'd be honoured if some of you decided to join to keep in touch with us & our plans. Frankly I'm going to be giving some of the gear away to those from CA that have helped us out in the past, but as it's out my pocket, I'll have to sell some as well - will sort pricing etc soonish - will also bring stock down to MB campsite (I'll explain this and the added bonus when I can show you the t-shirt design!!) And it's nothing to do with a free shower or a massage before those that saw that topic ask!! On a further note - links. If anyone has a website (LM related of course!) and it's not currently on our links page - please let me know and I'll do something about it - likewise there are some banners there if anyone needs some. Those that don't have a link to us on their site - you know who you are!! http://www.beermountain.com/links.htmI'll report back to this thread in 10 days or so re all the above when the shirts are on line!

Mr Toad (and anyone else who has an opinion on the matter) - having checked out your website - particularly the beer mountain section - i wonder if you might settle a small dispute that has been continuing between myself and my Le Mans travelling companion for a couple of years or so......
What is the official position with regard to using mastic, glue, guy ropes and other materials to hold your beer bottle wall together?
My feeling is that it is blatant cheating and shouldnt be allowed any more than performance enhancing drugs are allowed in other competitive sports.
What do you reckon?
Fran

Performance enhancing drugs and artifical means of keeping things up aren't always a bad thing Fran. Site is looking good Mr T...

Fran, We'll just take the performance enhansing drugs, f**k building a beerwall, a heap will do us just fine, it will always look like a mountainous wall to us. Rusty

Apologies for not updating our site Mr.T. Sadly our pal Hinch has shifted his fat f**k*ng arse over to Shanghai and seems to be far more interested in Asia Minor than is acceptable, he is now unavailable for anything else other than pubic topiary. It would seem that I have now been deemed the new webmeister ( as well as everything else), sadly I know f**k all about webermeisteringnesslingtonpasspatoof'angf'tangolebiscuitbarrellmccdfcvcandbar so it may well take a little while for a proper update, all I can say from the pics that I currently hold from last year is that it will be well worth the wait. I have to agree with fran here. I am a believer in all natural beer mountains. Over the years, we have developed a technique, where by the wall is supported with a moraine of wine, whiskey and cognac bottles. Although one year (when one of our lads was just finishing a particularly nasty divorce) the moraine actually topped out the beer There is also the added excitement of occasionally having to repair some natural slippage caused by a passing V8 or V12

The use of glue and other aids is perfectly legal once the mountain has reached a certain height. This is to prevent the menace of avalanches. A beer bottle avalanche is a horrific incident.

Fran - like any sport, beer mountaineering is a "broad church", and there are always extremists who would agree with you...as well as those that wouldn't take a step out their tent unless fully equipped with all the latest aids in the sport. Over at Beermountain we favour the Alpine method of mountain building, which allows as to express ourselves more artistically with beer than would otherwise be possible. We therefore have an account with Screwfix Direct for all the tubes of silicone, wooden base plates, mallets etc. Now you mention it its time we ran a new feature on mountain building technique, but here was the last one... http://www.beermountain.com/building_advice.htmSeen here - Oddball "tops out" on a quick Alpine ascent up Mt Kronenbourg, Le Mans, France, 2004 - note the lightweight approach - t-shirt, shorts, a couple of guy ropes and a handy silicone gun...

Whilst not quite in the above category, although in defence this was a picture taken early on, I have here an example of a "natural" mountain complete with moraine. I would like to apologise though, for the bloody bottle of water which managed to get in there. I think this was due to some passerby having a bit of a giggle.

Six bottles of spirits on top of beer and wine is really quite impressive! But I am a little disappointed there are no cidre bottles to be seen.

I fully intend to try the cidre breakfasts this year Andy Afterall I have read about them on this site, I cannot believe we had not given them a try before.

Fair dinkum. Don't but the cheap stuff, get the mid to higher priced ones, about 4%abv. The top of the range ones come in at over 6% so be wary and check the label unless you want to spend the weekend in a wheelchair.
PS Serve chilled.

Not so much of a mountain as a mound! I would hasten to add that we didn't start collecting until the Friday afternoon!!
