I had this link sent to me this morning from one of the groups I belong to.
If any of you are bikers or offroaders it will interest you.
There is a campaign at the moment with the weight of the Ramblers Association behind it to restrict right of way to basically anything other than them on byways, RUPP's etc.
This basically means that if it goes through, should you at anytime in the future fancy a bit of enduro, trail, trial or any other form of offroad bike riding, quad, 4X4, you are screwed.
This is mostly aimed at a very small minority of youths who rip up and down lanes on nicked bikes and the irresponsible few who just chew up the lanes, but the campaign backed by the might of the Ramblers Association (and obviously politicians after votes) is going to f**k it for everyone.
Groups such as the TRF, BMF and MAG are starting to gather force but it most likely going to be hard fought ground as we are very much in the minority here.
Any one wishing to show there support can do so at http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/ican/G446

Cheers to anyone who wants to support this, and fight the forces of oppression.

Grrrr! Shakes fist at screen!

These bastards are nothing but fascists, out to control every aspect of your life. It's the same with identity cards, smoking, foxhunting, binge drinking, cannabis, phone tapping, on the spot fines, speed cameras, money laundering regulations, you name it. You can't even now legally change a light fitting in your own kitchen, you're supposed to get a qualified sparks in to do it. Or mend a broken windowpane, I kid you not!!

These power-crazed fools won't be happy until they can regulate or control every aspect of your life, until you aren't allowed out to play anymore. Mark my words they'll have us all living on a strict diet of Coronation Street and worshipping at the foot of the altar that is the great God known as Soccer. We don't live in a truly free country anymore, of that there is no doubt.

That's the one son. These sad little people obviously have little else to do than f**k up other peoples lives when they are not attending church fetes and whist drives.

Here's a contrast for you. While riding back from Italy last summer, we stopped off in the Italian Alps at Sauze Doux. They celebrate there Mortocross clubs that much that they allow them to ride there bikes into the bars and do burnouts and donuts in the bar. Top marks for the sporting Italians. A bit fecking noisy and smelly tho, poo.

I saw photos of this a few years ago in Andy Capps bar in Sauze. I thought then it was a pretty cool thing to do, but can't imagine it ever happening in the Red Lion or the George & Dragon. Bloody greens should stick to saving whales and such like. I was always thought that the countryside belonged to us all and as long as it did no harm to anyone it was open season. I watched the Clarkesons Motorworld episode about Iceland again last week and those people really know how to enjoy their countryside. Angry

This pisses me off big time.  More red tape meddling political bullshit from twats in suits in big cities trying to f**k up a simple country pursuit like riding your motorcycle along a minority green lane.

We've had fox hunting banned, what next for the country way of life?  We've already had townies moving to the country and complaining when Farmer Giles spreads pig sh*t on his fields and the cows moo too loudly.

Arable fields are mowed and turned into golf courses.  The ordinary Joe farmer has his margins and livelyhood squeezed by the big supermarkets so that they can "pass on the cost saving to the public" whilst maximising their own profits.

Then the fields and lanes are overun by the "Ramblers Association" exercising their 'right to roam'.

Well, I'm going to exercise my 'right to drive my noisy V8 engined car across your f**k*ng manicured lawn'.

Done I tottally agree with everyones sentiments the whole country is going mad. You can't do anything these days without someone moaning about it.

I ride astandard bike up to the cat and fiddle regularly and never go above the daft 50 mph limit up there as plod are hiding round every corner and still managed to get stopped have my numberplate measured can checked etc. and everything isstandard. when asked why stopped your bike sounded noisy, well it would it runs on petrol not electric.

Well spotted Rusty.

If this battle is lost the next one might be to save riding motorbikes on the road. Be prepared.

exactly dont think that is too far away either judging by the article in MCN on wednesday. On how if the europrats get there way it will be easier for a 16 year old to get a piolets license than a bike license.

Time to invest in a aerodrome i think!!

The larger picture is that this can extend as is quoted several times above.
Eurocrats and the like have tried it before with bikes and tried to impose power limits, thankfully unsuccesfully,so far.
Special ,modified and one off vehicles haved also come under close scrutiny and there have been threats regarding aftermaket parts and non-standard equipment so beware. this could ultimately affect many people on this forum.
Look at the speeding debate as well. Public enemy number 1 so the MP's, Feds and the self-righteous say. Hmmmmmmm. Speed lmiters and satellite tracking might sort that.
It doesn't take a lot either, again just a friendly vote hungry MP listening to large groups of non representitive busybodies wanting their moment of fame. Very dangerous conbinations at work.
Anyway, what the f**k gives this minority the right to screw with the rights of general joe public. The vote and the inaction of people either unaware or those not thinking there action will help.
WRONG. Vote now! Tomorrow it maybe you.
