Robbo - Although I didn't mention bikes specifically, I will be aiming to include some sessions for bikes, subject to:

1)   I need to get the basics in place first at Marham and with the FOC, particularly with regard to level/type/cost of liability insurance.
2)   There would need to be enough to make it worthwhile giving over session time, as mixed sessions of cars and bikes is pretty much a non-starter - there will doubtless be a number interested from here at Marham itself.

Dear All,

A few further nuggets of info.   The major hurdle of public liability insurance has been sorted.  Participants will be covered for liability for injury to other people and the property/real estate of the airfield.  What your own standard road insurance pollcy will not cover will be damage to yourself and/or your pride and joy.   So, might be worth contacting your insurers to see what they say and/or the likes of Firebond, Peter Best or Adrian Flux Insurance who do one-off cover for track days.

The dates are definitely set now as 1/2 October; the Ferrari Owners Club will be starting to advertise in their club magazine soon and putting the entry forms etc together.   Once I have those, probably within the next few weeks, I will be able to post them here and confirm any other requirements that need to be met, like payment, the type of helmet you need etc.

Finally, the course we will be able to use is agreed using well-surfaced, smooth and wide tarmac surfaces - it will be 4 miles in length, running anti-clockwise - with the main runway at 1 3/4 miles long, and a reasonably high entry speed, you will be able to achieve terminal velocity........we should also be able to get timing gear there to provide irrefutable proof.......

All the best for now,

Mark

May I just add that anyone considering one-day insurance for this type of activity to cover possible accidental damage to their pride and joy should check VERY carefully the actual cover and exclusions.

Quite a few companies specifically exclude events that have timing equipment as this is considered to be 'competition'.
