Oops. July 20th due date makes me feel that I may have to withdraw my entry for 05 (should have done that in the dark hours, I know).
Standing in Houx on Friday night this year the Mrs called from the US and told me our house was going to flood from a severe storm. Given that there was nowt I could do, I opened another Nigerian Lager and said it'll work itself out - and it did. Somehow, I can't see myself shrugging off "someone's pulled the chain and I've ruined me shoes!" from 3000 miles away.
A mate of mine was calling back every hour to his Mrs in the UK a number of years ago for a status update on his heavily dilated wife. Too risky I fear.
I wonder if all the pikeys at the track are really blokes who've gone when they shouldn't have and now can't go back home?
Anyone else gone within a month of their Mrs due date?

My son is about to turn 1 year in a couple of weeks so life will be interesting in the 2nd half of 05. Guess we'll have to down a few at Sebring to celebrate, eh?

Not quite my first was born 6 weeks before LM, but the closest I got was when I was working in Saudi the Mrs was back in the UK and I flew back in on the Friday with the second being born on the Monday.
Trust me it wouldn't have been worth the hassle to have missed that!!

You inconsiderate arsehole, David. Presumably this means I can no longer plunder your frequent flier account for 1st class transportation to and from the race in 2005. Could also mean having to consider the option of teaming up with Critchetti's RV crew - because I am too old and decrepit to even think about tenting it at Le Mans. Hopefully, falling on your sword for Le Mans earns you double points for Rolex/Sebring/RA? Congratulations, nonetheless to you and 'er indoors.

I'd have thought you would have known to be celibate 9 months before June / July. Ho hum, only one Harper for LM this year then. See you at Sebring. Steve

Dave
Mini SPS was born 26th July 2004, and his dad was present for the entire weekend.
Mum had to be banned from going to Le Mans, it would have been too much, but she wanted to go.
I believe the phone bill back to the UK was a little large for 5 days away, but no real worries.
We had a back up plan, which envolved my credit card ( if required ) a fast ferry timetable from Caen and a phone call to P&O, also....
But all was fine.Thomas was due for birth a week before he arrived, around the 18th i think.
Is that an ok comparison ?

I reckon this childbirth lark has been severely over-rated by the women, another of their ruses to get us feeling guilty and ready to run about after them. I mean how often does it happen? It's not exactly every day, or week, or even month for that matter. Sometimes it's over in a matter of minutes and let's not forget the drugs. All that screaming, it's just not necessary in my opinion. Us men on the other hand, don't really take advantage of the erection fate that befalls us all. Some of those hard-ons can be real forehead crinklers and they a happen on a much more frequent basis. When I was sixteen I had a screaming boner for a month that threatened to snap in two any minute. Now that's what I call labour. Back then, twenty a day wouldn't be unusual, especially while spending an afternoon down at the lido. I reckon we should get a lot more sympathy from the women over this, and some sort of support group as well, similar to the Childbirth Trust, a Stiffy Support Society maybe. H PS oh, congratulations Dave, a fine erection, well done.

Interesting theory Big H. Can I ask if this theory comes with a health warning? I plan to go home and quote you to the Mrs, but if death is to be instant, I'd sort of like to plan for it Planman
