HGB, sorry to nit pick, but I think that 917 is an ex-Martini car and now belongs to a bloke call Juan Barazi. Piper's 917 is plain green and I think its a short tail version too. BTW, anyone got any info on the Ford's history? I know less than nothing about it.
Piper really seems to be into that strange Ford at the moment. I saw him drive it at Silverstone last month and at Goodwood too. He even spoke to me as I waited by the paddock entrance before the start of his race; he slapped me on the back, smiled and said Excuse me old chap!
On reflection, I'm certain it was just that he wanted to touch my CA teeshirt!

Although, looking at your photo for a second time, it does seem to say David Piper Racing on the side. Now I'm really confused! Don't tell me the lucky bastard's got two 917's!!

Yes Andy, I know the green one. That one was at the Ring. The no 31 was driven and is maybe owned by Barazi, not sure about that. As you can see it has "David Piper" written on the side. Maybe they take care of the car and Barazi is the owner/driver.

Paddy, we must have been rather close next to each other. Did you spot the 4 or 5 TVR shirts next to you ? When Kaffer went through the pitlane with the car fully a balze he put himself off many people's christmas list. That was not a very clever idea to doodle down the pit lane on three wheels and burning when there are other cars in the pits, probably some of them refuelling at that time. Forgot a thing: Another thumbs down for the shot Tiv.

hgb, were you standing there with an English flag? I had my Drinking for Holland-shirt on, but the weather wasn't really apropriat, so it was covered with a jacket most of the time Here's another shot of the car, poor quality because of extended zoom
