Ooops! I stand corrected, the early seventies AAR Barracuda's were deep blue and not black as I previously mentioned (they always seemed black)  lovely and menacing all the same.  There are some pics at www.historictransam.com

Very interesting site John.  I've always admired the AMC Javelin.  Not as popular / competitive as the General / Blue Oval but quite appealing none the less.

Yes indeed, the AMC Jav's were an interesting addtion to the Pony Car Wars.  Prepared by Penske Racing and driven by the great Mark Donohue they were a very competitive package.  Penske got invloved with AMC for a while and as well as the Javelin's in Trans-Am they campaigned the Matador in the NASCAR Winston Cup with Bobby Allison driving.   AMC made some interesting cars and some downright bizarre ones, anyone remember the Pacer?  Every once in a blue moon you'll still see one out on the road.  Swear to God, its wheelbase must be the same as its track.

The Pacer.  Yes, a very strange car.  Aimed at the housewife as far as I know with one door being longer than that on the other side to aid access to the rear seat.

Also immortalised in Waynes World.

Truly a crock of sh*t, but not as bad as the Pontiac Aztek  Lips Sealed

Bit of an anorak fact I admit, but the car they crash into the roadblock at the end of the film is actually a white Camaro not the Challenger....

Most certainly, I'll be on my prayer mat for good drag racing weather.  See you there.

Yenko Camaro - now there's a beast, and worth a large sack of cash too.

Road runner for sale. looks a bit like a project and may provide interesting driving on a wet twisty road.
