I camped there last year (2002) and the ground is soft so normal tent pegs are suffice. Toilets didn't arrive until Thursday and the only showers were in a Danish Articulated trailer which weere about 2/3 euro's and freezing. We drove to one of the other sites every morning for a shower. we were let on no problem. Lots of Danes present last year. They had a gig beer/ food marquee.

First time to Le Mans. Last minute booking. Got the ferry booked, but it looks like all the campsites are booked. (Apart from £389 for the VIP pitch). What are the alternatives? Is the off-site camping any good, and is it a pain to get in/out of the circuit. Can you catch a few hours kip in the car park for race night, or (someone mentioned to me) at the back of the grandstand? 2 blokes, on a budget, arriving by car midnight Friday Thanks, Paul
There are still tickets available for Beausejour and Technoparc at face value from the Le Mans ticket shop. Just bought my Beausejour ticket for face value 35 Euros, it will be waiting for me at reception - I hope. Link is: http://marchand.lemans.org/public/boutique/cat.asp?evt=20&boutic=26HTH

The ACO get cancellations, right up until the last minute. People arrive and hand back tickets for resale. So as a last resort they are always worth a try.

Knowing the ACO I won't actually believe it until I get there and have the pass in my hand...

Paul-B, i'm in the same situation- last minute booking! Thanks for posting that link but it's saying that the booking office is now closed?!!? I reckon we'll have to just turn up and sleep in the car but I'm going to keep an eye on here for some camping tickets just in case

Two Paul B's in the same thread! Might get a bit confusing, Bruce. Anyway - thanks to one of your great suggestions I managed to get a camping ticket for Houx Annexe from ebay. I paid a premium but I figured I can't be choosy. Anyway I believe it's a good site. Thanks all.

Just turn up as you have decided as you will get sorted some where. Last year my mate and I turned up on the Tuesday ( no tickets), went straight to The Rotonde and got a ticket for Technopark and there were a few to be had. Stu

I received an email yesterday morning from the Billitere (ACO Ticket office) informing me that I have 6 camping permits for Houx Annexe. I no longer require them as I didn't trust the French idiotd and went with a package deal this year!!! My point is that you should telephone them direct and see if there are any left. There seems to be loads of tickets this year - nothing like the mad rush last year
