This posted by "Chateaux" over on ten-tenths!! Gilles...can you confirm??

Some Le Mans updates.Be warned the circular system for getting into Blue, Red, and Green parking is dramatically different the Red car parks cannot be reached from the bypass any more. I have seen them moving the signs so that you cannot come off the bypass and will have to access via Arnage!!!! Major change!!! Arnage will be a traffic free zone from Wednesday a.m. The section of the track between Mulsanne Corner and Porsche Curves will remain closed to the public!!!! from 14.00 Wednesday until end of race. I understand that it is cheaper to pay the local authority rather than keep opening and closing it. Temporary granstand has been erected on outside of Arnage bend? not sure for whom. A giant Supermarche has appeared just south of Arnage

There are the dreaded clamping companies around from Wednesday. If you put up a tent in the wrong parts of the car parks, you will have to pay a £ 70 clamp fee to be realesed. There are also elapsed time cameras on new motorway sections from Alencon around Le Mans to Ecommoy.

Just hit them whenever the slightest vague opportunity arises in my experience Angry

just red these and futher updates on Lemansnews.net and don't like the sound of them at all. Is this person a reliable source or is he just trying to scare us.
I don't like the idea about Virage Porsche area being closed during the race or the idea about not being able to get up close to the cars at the square. Is he talking about at the parade or at scruteneering.

I am a little confused, I guess they are closing the road at Arnarge corner not the town of Arnarge itself, because if they do how do you get to Red CP after Wednesday? Or am I being dense, it has been known......................

As for closing Arnarge Corner on Friday all I can say KILLJOYS!!!

If you look at the thread on the other site this looks like a wind-up. There's no way the Porsche curves will be closed for viewing during the race, and no way Chirac will be anywhere near Le Mans on race weekend.

My understanding of the original post was that the part of the road that is used as track for the race, from Mulsanne Corner to the Porscge Curves, would remain closed. i.e, No INdianapolis this year at all after Wednesday morning!!

I'm not sure how practical this would be, or how reliable the source is. Hence why I was hoping for Gilles to step in with some local knowledge!!

When i went along this piece of road, 2 weeks ago, at well over the ton, no problems, no cameras, or even equipment laying around.

I reckon the SOURCE is cruddy. If he was my informant i'd give him a proper kicking .

I wouldn't be surprised - they closed off the Mulsanne - Indianapolis section from Thurday luchtime for the qualifying and for the whole of Friday too last year.   In terms of the square for the driver's parade see my other post - can;t remmebr which one - but last year it was fenced off and cost the public 5 euros to access.

I'm not suprised at the closure.   The Cafe at  Le Hunaudières  used to be a good place to gather on the Friday and you could get a reasonable view of the race on previous years.    Arnage used to be reasonably subdued on the Friday evening. But each time there is an 'incident' they smiply prevent it next time by closeing it or preventing one from parking near the place.

Of course people always find a new place to go.

Still life goes on.  <sigh>

Track closed from Mulsanne to Indianapolis on the Friday last year? Could have fooled me - I distinctly remember riding round that section at lunchtime on Friday.
