With regards to the ACO, as a new member to the club, but not to Le Mans by any means, having moved to France and being 500 miles each way further away than i was in the UK, it  rather upsets (read pissed off) as a member to be told that i can only have the third choice of grandstand , and a non membership one at that! Now my point is that it was advertised with all the bells and whistles that a club membership brings, I know that it comes with a first come, first served basis, a minor reduction in entrance fees, and a one off breakdown service here in France, but, Hey,  you dont join a club to become a second rate member just becuse they over suscribe membership stands and take your money with no further benefits, OHH, a free programme, and a picture and stuff!!!  Seriously Hacked off, wont join again,not paying ,somebody sort them out!!!!. And the date for next year is?

I've never been tempted to even consider joining the ACO or even to get excited about applying for tickets the minute the race is over. We've booked every year through Motor Racing International - I know it's a bit package / corporate but for less than £200 each we get a race ticket each, a Maison Blanche camping pass, a 5 day shuttle pass and access to the super bogs, bar and barbecue hospitality marquee.
Don't know what all the fuss is about mate!

I got an email yesterday from ACO about their "Club 24" membership.  A poster, program, qualifiers list, etc. plus access to their members enclosure and a 14Euro discount on the general entrance fee.  All for about $115 US.  Doesn't sound like a very good deal for me.  Maybe for others but I can't see that for me.  I think I'll buy the program and pay the regular fee and come out better.  I'm not driving in France and not trying to position for a campsite next year.  Any body out there see that I'm missing something?

You are spot on John!!

We've joined this year, simply because if you buy your full allocation of 6 discounted entrance tickets and at least one camping permit then membership pays for itself. Plus you then get the extra things like the program, entrance to their members enclosure etc.

But in your circumstances, unless you fly back over nexy year complete with 5 friends (and once you've been bitten by the bug that is a strong possibility) then it's not worth it.

There are other hidden benefits for ACO membership.

If you have used the ACO members grandstand.....you will find the cleanest toilets on the circuit,...............beer is the cheapest in the village area and 2 X restuarants and closed circuit tv......which was great when the England vs Denmark match was on the other year because the Aco put the match on in the newer restaurant!!!

Pretzel and I have had tickets in the members grandstand for the past 5 years and hopefully will continue to do so in the future.

Who organises hospitality for a 24 hour event and runs out of beer after one hour?
Who, after running out of beer after one hour of a 24 hour event, fails to obtain more beer until 22 hours later?
Who charges punters £50 per ticket for this?

I'll tell you who... and I know what you're thinking..."Surely it's a bunch of retarded goats who wouldn't know the back of their own hand even if they smacked themselves in the face with it." And you'd be right. Its the MRI guys.

This year I believe they claimed their hospitality was worth £75.  

I assume they have a better beer supplier this year?  

Did you ever try to get compensation from them Russ??
