No no, H, not those ones...

Having been going to LM for 7 years this year I'm starting to be able to recognise one car from another. I'm finding it really quite handy.

But at the weekend there was discussion over how to tell who was driving.

Any nerds out there got a list showing the colours of each drivers helmet?

I think I'm regretting starting this thread already...

I think Johnny Herberts is pink or purple depending on the grip. Or so I've been told.

Hi Smoke,
To be honest, most of the drivers helmets have become such a mess anymore its hard to tell them apart even when you know what color scheme's are.  Someone needs to tell some of these guys that while the helmet might look cool up close, from a distance it looks like someone threw-up on it. Johnny H's is easy to spot with the Union Jack on top and Butch Leitzinger is recognizable with his black Speed Racer/Racer X design. Personally I miss the old days of Jo Siffert's red helmet with the Swiss cross on it or Jacky Ickx with his simple dark blue with white trim.

mcnish has a tartan bit i think on the side, although i dont think you will be able to see it unless up close,so alot of use that is to u, jamie davies is easy to spot, red stripes going down the middle and a very dark blue thin stripe going along side the red which from a distance looks black, looks a bit like a union jack but it isnt, from seing an old pic of him in karting the helmet just had one of the red stripes and the navy, it matched his overalls .

I'll probably regret resurrecting this thread but just for completeness...

this page has the drivers listed, and if you enter on each then it has the colour of their helmet in French.

I was looking at this the other day, and the answer is on the ACO site.  Go to; http://www.lemans.org/univers_sport/24hauto/live/team/ifc/engages_gb.hTML   and you will find the cars listed with hyperlinks to a picture of each one, and the drivers listed with hyperlinks to a picture of ach one with brief description including helmet colour.

If anyone succeeeds in copying it all.  Please let me have a copy.  I haven't got up the nerve yoe, to plough through all the info.

Justin Wilson's is white with different shades of green on the front & blue on the sides, with a Union Jack just behind the visor.
I found a picture of one of the Dome Judd's from the April practice, & was pleased with myself when I recognised him. (I'm a shareholder in him so that's why I care!!)

I have found out from Aysedasi that if you are a member of the ACO, you can get a copy of the List des Engagees - the helmet colours are given for every driver.

Also, here is a link to a guy who has listed them (mostly) on his site:
