Journey time From Le Havre on Saturday a.m.

Some of our party are only arriving on the Saturday morning having got to Le Havre at 8 a.m. The 130 miles looks like it would normally take 3 - 3.5 hours according to 'Getting there' info and also RAC Route Planner.
How realistic are these timings bearing in mind time to disembarque but particularly race traffic nearer the circuit. Are they likely to get there in time for the start?

Getting to LM in time shouldn't be a problem DJ, but getting to the circuit may be, depending on where he's heading for.
Last year I ventured into town on Saturday morning and it took me over 2 hours to drive back. Thankfully I wasn't driving but was passenger in a friends TVR, I therefore had the added bonus of a very sweaty leather seat. The way my thighs were slip-sliding around on that thing...

The advance party will be staying in style in Houx Annex so the late arrivals plan is to get to the campsite asap, dump the car and then find us viewing in the startline area. Meeting up with us is not so much of a problem, but as they have some new young ones with them, viewing the start from somewhere is highly desirable!

Well, as it's all arranged there's not much you can do but hope it's clear. The jam we got snarled up in was on the N23 Felix Avenue, the main road out of town past the airport. The bottleneck seemed to be the roundabout next to the Parc des Expositions, near the Heineken bar.
It might be a good idea to make sure they've got a good streetmap so they can dodge the traffic if necessary. There's a good 1:12500 that can be had, and I believe there's some maps elsewhere on this website.
Good luck!

H - thanks for the info. They have a good map reader in the car!

Ferry arrives, small load of cars, out the port, over pont du Normandie, then follow signs.
2 hours at fast speeds.
Quicker at Silly speeds.
Did it in 3 hours in a Minibus last year, with all the traffic.
Call it 2 1/2
its a fun route, Enjoy the N138
