I know some of you are planning to add extra printing to your CA tee shirts, and I've just done it. So I thought my experiences might be of some help.
Firstly I should point out that I used 'Avery' tee shirt transfer paper, purchased at PC world.
There are other products which are probably very similar, and work the same way, but I don't know for sure.
I have 'over printed' 8 shirts for our team, with a logo and name on the right sleeve, and team name etc on the back. this picture shows the sleeve transfer. Sorry it's a bit out of focus.

It's important to understand that these things are plastic transfers, and NOT a method for transfering ink onto the material. What you end up with is a layer of very thin plasctic stuck tot he shirt. The transfer used in the pictures is meant for white tee shirts, and is a clear material. The printing is done on the underside, in reverse. This means that when you put the transfer on the shirt, with the backing paper uppermost, the printed side is next to the shirt material, and basically viewed in reverse through the transfer material. There is a 'Dark tee shirt transfer' product also on sale, and whilst this is very similar, the transfer material is opaque white, and the printing is done on the top side without being reversed. this stuff is useful for covering up cock-ups.  Yes I made one........... At all times follow the instructions given, but remember that once you iron the stuff on, it's bloody hard to get it off, and will usually wreck the shirt!!!!!!! |

WARNING WARNING WARNING
Do not get a hot iron near the web address on the back of the shirts. It melts the 'ink' and you get a result similar to the picture below. The only pre-printed part of the shirt that i felt confident to iron was the black Le mans 2004 logo on the front.

Gibberish.
DONT wash the shirts until you have to , then hang up on a hanger straight away. otherwise the transfer paper peels like burnt skin after a LM weekend.

Thanks for the info Gib.
Following the earlier thread I posted about these transfers, I've elected to go the screen printed route for our 20 t-shirts with our logo.
I'm waiting for them to come back from the printers so will give a preview soon (fingers crossed!)

It worked out at about £4 per t-shirt for the logo on the sleeve and on the back plus one-off screen / artwork costs. A lot I know but we had budgeted for it so no tears  |
