Why were the MG Lolas of Dyson , intersport etc in LMP1 as they would usually be in LMP675 not LMP 900 .

Simply put Robbo, new rules for 2004.

For the best, as LMP2 now is competitive again. It wasn't supposed to be a mega-buck class which is what was required once those gorgeous Lolas appeared.

By my reckoning we should get about 7 or 8 P2s at Lemons this year. Lolas, WRs, Courages and hopefully (locally biased here!!) the PiR Pilbeam-Mader MP91 which I saw nearing completion yesterday at the factory.

Right on Rick, The ALMS and ACO have done away with the LMP900 and LMP675 classes and renamed them LMP1 and LMP2.
The lightweight, small displacment turbo cars now fall in in LMP1.

Now if they can only get those Lolas reliable we'd see a real fight.

I suspect that the Rob Dyson Lolas will be right in the thick of the fight all summer in the ALMS.  Sebring doesn't really suit that car but at some of the other venues like Mid-Ohio and Sears Point where handling and the ability to really throw the car around is all important, they very well could be the cars to beat.
