Club Arnage Circuit des Remparts –
Angouleme 16th – 21st September 2004

Itinerary

Thursday 16th September
Check in at P&O Ferries terminal in Portsmouth at 21.15hrs for the 22.15 overnight crossing to Le Havre.

Friday 17th September
Arrive Le Havre at 07.00hrs. Drive to Angouleme in southwest France, which is around 6-7 hours drive. Check-in at the 3-star Hotel Mercure in North Angouleme. Total mileage approximately 300 miles.

At 21.30hrs, located in the town gardens, the Concours d’elegance takes place – a collection of classic cars of all shapes and sizes, with drivers and their companions in themed dress, where the winner wins their weight in Cognac!

Saturday 18th September
A variety of events take place throughout the day;
·   A road run starting at the ‘Geant’ supermarket close to the hotel in North Angouleme takes place. More than 150 cars drive through the roads of the Charente region, with the run finishing at the Place Victor Hugo in the town centre.
·   A cavalcade of Sunday’s racecars - leaving from the Hotel De Ville at around 10.00hrs towards the ‘Geant’ Supermarket.
·   From 14.00hrs in the square by the market Halles a presentation of Sunday’s race cars and drivers.
·   Concours d’Etat – starting at 16.00hrs in the gardens of the Hotel de Ville.

Sunday 19th September
Circuit des Remparts – racing on the historic circuit all day from 08.00hrs to 18.00hrs. Race categories include Bugatti Grand Prix cars, Frazer Nash, MGs, Vintage sport and racing cars, GTs, GTSs, and GTOs. Those who wish to spectate can buy access to the track, grandstands and wander through the pits and paddock.

Monday 20th September
Depart Angouleme for Le Havre ready to check in at 22.00hrs for the P&O Ferries 23.00hrs overnight crossing to Portsmouth. Total mileage 300 miles.

Tuesday 21st September
07.00 arrive Portsmouth.

The Price:

·   £289.00 per person (based on 2 people in a car).
·   Longer stays are available at a small supplement.

What’s included:

·   P&O Ferries crossings from Portsmouth to Le Havre including 2-berth inside cabins in each direction. Upgraded cabins are available on request.
·   3 nights bed and breakfast accommodation in the 3-star Mercure Hotel in Angouleme.
·   Rally boards, routes and general information.

What’s not included:

·   Vehicle recovery and personal insurance
·   Tickets to the race (€20in 2003) Please note these are not available in advance
·   Entry to the Road Run (€300 in 2003), this is highly recommended although it seems initially expensive the price does include the road run, lunch in the Cognac countryside and a gala dinner in the central market hall on Saturday. Two entrance/paddock tickets for the racing on Sunday. Please ask for more details.  

Total Mileage:

·   Approximately 600 miles round trip from Le Havre.

Indeed, what a prize!
Never mind the patent leather sligbacks, I'll also have to dig out my "Miami Airport Specials", a pair of lead lined inter-continental incontinence pants.
And maybe a dozen boiled eggs before the start of the weekend.
