Remeber those gorgeous Audi R8C?  The sleek, sexy, beautiful entry from 1999 (I stand to be corrected if wrong)...

What happened to them, and where are they now?

Were they not used as the base car for the Bentley project?

Ahhh, that would explain a lot - both works of art....

BTW -  There was a 1/10th scale radio control R8C at Brands in the shop there when I was at the BTCC last year, was only £80....  HOW TEMPTED??

Grandprix legends . com sell the models at a lot lower price.

Please can we stop shattering m thoughts of the Big B. She was a British monster , with the origons of a german engine. Not a cast of from th R8c.

Welcome to the modern commercial world of "badge engineering" Robbo!! Built at the same factory, with the same parent company? Hmmm...... Think there might have been just a bit more than a tad of R & D crossover I'm afraid.

Mh, makes me think... Where did they build the Toyota GT1 ? I know that at least one is now standing in their factory in Cologne (Germany) where they're also working on their F1 project. However, at the time the GT1 was build the factory didn't exist yet.

Rick, wasn't there a chap from the Bently team who posted a message on this forum, saying how it wasn't an Audi in disguise, but really british built.  Although there is some resemblance, i must admit!

Yes, I remember him saying that too. I can't remember who it was, though.

The only thing the Bentley had the same as the Audi was the engine. A pretty important item i know but the rest of the car was built in Britain.
It was designed and built at RTN in Norfolk. They were allowed to do their own thing which is why they chose a bullet proof gearbox rather than a quick change one.
I seem to recall Dallara in Italy made the Audi chassis and that certainly isn't called an Italian car.
I don't think any race car is truly made in one country anymore.

Which just so happens to be where the R8Cs were built!
