It's March, LM is in June ... nothing to worry about so far.

ELMS test and opening race in Barcelona could be a problem in 4 weeks time if there's an outbreak in Spain.
Monza might be a question mark for the ELMS in May.

Statistically, you stand more chance of being killed by a snake, or one of those strange French sausages

I'm guessing that it'll all be over by then ~ and hoping the French lift their ban.

Outbreak in Spain? Don't forget the race hosting country might not want to let it in. 'Not necessarily the only worry being coming out with it. Wink

From 1st Tickets Limited

Quote from: chum racing
=Potential Impact of Coronavirus:=

The virus, and its unforeseen impact, has come out of the blue and is something that we could not have prepared for. All we can do is give you the facts available and point you in the direction of further information to help you make an informed decision as to whether or not to travel.

At this stage there is no indication that events at Le Mans and/or Spa Francorchamps will be affected by the current Coronavirus outbreak. However, we are monitoring travel advice updates from the UK Government  Foreign Office and NaTHNaC plus the ACO about the event. If there is any significant update, we will let you know.

If the situation changes and FCO issues a travel advisory advising against all but essential travel to a whole country or island, customers of ABTA Members who have booked package holidays to that destination for the period that the advice is in force will be entitled to receive suitable alternative arrangements, or where these aren’t available, a full refund of all monies paid to the tour operator. Customers may be able to recover the refund from their travel insurance, but if this is not the case, the tour operator must provide a refund. Unfortunately you won’t be entitled to any additional compensation, as the reason for the holiday not continuing is outside the control of 1st Tickets Limited.

In the meantime, please do ensure that everyone in your group has adequate travel insurance and a valid European health insurance card (EHIC) as this will allow access to state-provided healthcare in EEA countries, at a reduced cost, or sometimes for free. The EHIC, however, is not an alternative to travel insurance.

You can, of course, choose to cancel your trip at any time, however termination charges as per our Booking Conditions will apply.

If there is a significant change to the travel guidelines or an update about the events from the ACO and/or Peter Auto, we will keep you updated.

"The virus, and its unforeseen impact, has come out of the blue"

What's the impact (besides the panic and results thereof)?
And, out of the blue? The "corona" virus has been around for years and years. This one's just a new strain.

40,000ish people a year die on the highways (lowways too?) each year here in the U.S. Is this "ultra pandemic"?

Oh, the humanity......  Roll Eyes (and more seriously, the ignorance.... Sad)

And? What was the world's population and number infected at the time?....Percentage of infected?
It's not killing nearly that percentage, now is it?

"The Black Death Killed 2/3 of its victims within 3-4 days. 25 million people died due to the Black Death and 1/3-1/2 of the worlds population had died by 1350. The Black Death was a combination of three disease. The mortality rate for humans who caught the bubonic plague was 30-75%. The pneumonic plague killed 90-95% of its victims."

There is ignorance in panicking. That is more dangerous than this virus. Wink

As an ACO member I received an mail from the ACO today, which said

CORONAVIRUS UPDATE

We are monitoring the Coronavirus situation closely.

For the moment, we have not been notified of any requirement to postpone or cancel any of our sporting events scheduled in the coming weeks on the Le Mans circuit. Our event calendar remains unchanged.

We are confident that the 24 Hours of Le Mans will go ahead as planned on 13-14 June.

Please note that our priority is to maintain our published schedule for 2020.
•   However, should it be necessary to do so, we will reschedule events later in the year.
•   In the event of a cancellation, tickets will be refunded.
