Get as much as you can off by carefully scraping, then use some nail varnish remover, which breaks the glue down a treat.

I think Rusty devised a method, but it involved a chisel and a w**k sock. I don't really want to go there!

Have any of you found a way to remove the sticky mess left on your windscreen once removing the passes at the end of the week.

I have tried differnet ways including the yellow attempt on my motor bike  a few years ago.


Any hints as my Car is brand spanking new.........

I had this dilemma about 3 years ago when I too did not want to get irremovable adhesives on my spanking new car. My other half came up with a great idea and we have used it ever since.

1. Take a transparent polythene bag that is just about the size of one of the windscreen sun visors.

2. Cut off the closed end so it becomes a polythene sleeve.

3. Slide the polythene sleeve over the sun visor.

4. Slide the parking/camping pass in between the sun visor and the polythene sleeve so the details face the windscreen when the visor is in the down position.

Job done. Easy to remove and, if you collect them as mementos of the event, they are not destroyed in the removal process. You can re-use the sleeve again and again and there's no need to slave away with nail varnish remover etc...

Lat year on Houx Annexe someone was doinga  similar thing, except their reason was that they kept passing the camping permit back over the fence for one of their friends to get their car in!

I managed it with brake cleaner!
Nowadays try smearing vaseline thinly over the area the sticker is to be applied it will come off much easier and no glue left.
But for goodness sake don't let anyone see you walking round the campsite with a tub of vaseline and you claiming it's to stop a sticky mess.

The guys on the gates are much tighter now than they used to be - we saw a lot of "recycling" of passes on Annexe in the 90's!

Assuming you have stuck it on (and have no vaseline/KY jelly with you!) - I used lighter fluid last year...

I've always thought it looks good left on for a few days/weeks though, so when you are driving round London people in the know can give you a wry smile!!!

Yes but is it because you dare not take it off as it's holding it together.

Just peel off about 5 mm of the backing and put it in your screen with just 4 little patches of sticky

I have put clear double sided tape on my ticket and stuck it to the sun visor they have always let me in. I also complained to the ticket marshall saying I had nothing to remove the sticker with and that I would impare my drivind back to to Scotland, (slightly twisting the truth) but it worked!!
