I thought "What happens in Vegas stand in Vegas!"
Make the trip sooner rather than later. Believe me you can't start too soon.

Flight to Paris, train to Le Mans, tram to the track.
Buy a tent from Decathlon when you arrive, buy some beers, buy your general admission ticket & then enjoy!
The whole week is not that expensive when you look at the cost of a camping pitch plus your gen admin ticket/pass. Unless you are an ACO member then you'll probably have to source a camping pitch from one of the many ticket agencies but a quick squint on the ACO's website shows camping pitches still available on Beausejour for €60. It's a bit of a walk to the main village area but then you're close to Porsche Curves. An Gen Admin ticket is €82 this year & that's for the whole week. The extra/upgrade option is a grandstand seat but not really necessary. You can pay up to €100 if you book direct with the ACO.
If you want/need to know more then download the club's LM guide with loads of useful information.

Got to save up for it. Hi Tony, If you decide to take Landman's advice and come this year. Look in the buy/sell section for a site on Houx or over on that side ( see map) to use the tram from city /station and be within walking distance of food stores etc. Expo side has bus service but limited stores within walking distance. Other than airfare not hugely expensive. Go until VISA says No...then get home on the Master Card. Has worked for me for years Phil

One of the reasons for this event's popularity is that its not daft money if you're prepared to slum it a bit. If you want hotels and cabs everywhere, then that's different. Its a gap weekend with tents, bbqs and beer.
And in reality, its Go till Amex says No, and come back on Diners Club, although has Trump banned these for Canada after reading the last post.

Look at flights through Chicago Atlanta New York etc even Toronto for the hop across the pond. Paris is the obvious destination but remember the European rail system is fantastic and Fast if cheap enough Amsterdam and Brussels and others have good connections. Just add the rail costs to get to the best deal. London has the Eurostar through the Channel Tunnel. The internet will provide all the answers with a little effort. Phil
