Help! Not strictly Le Mans I admit, but indulge me....in my sick twisted universe the fact that I see a lot of luvvly cars in camp sites at Le Mans lends me to believe that the answer may come from the collective braincell of this forum. My best mate is getting married (yes, I know... I tried...) on 14th Feb 04 (Valentine's Day....getting worse isn't it?)

I thought it would be a wizard wheeze to get the Groom (him) and the Best Man (me) from our hotel to the church for the service in an interesting/fast/classic/whatever car - either with or without a driver. Trouble is, all the stuff I've looked at on the web costs mucho plenty sterling, and they need the blood of yer first born as surety. Being tight, I'm looking for an alternative before I splash out.

The do is in Berkshire, and the hotel / church journey is about a half hour...Anyone know of any local types who do this sort of hire...?

Any ideas?  Huh

Hugee. If you ask Smokie nicely I'm sure he'll hire you a 3 litre Omega.

Alternatively, I know where there is a nice Commer campervan for hire. Just the job for the honeymoon as well provide the bride does not have issues with mildew.

Seriously, I would put a post on the Pistonheads website. Plenty of Ferrari/porsche owners on there who are up for a bit of a pose. Let us know how you get on.

You don't win Le Mans - you outlast it.

I don't care - I'm a racing driver and I'm here to win, not to finish third.

Egad...this is surprisingly useful stuff!

From what I've read, I reckon the Commer is just too ostentatious - it's not as if it's THAT special an occasion - and where would you tie the ribbons? ( careful..) but will have a look into the other suggestions...thanks to all & keep 'em coming

Bride has suggested that the lads arrive in a 1935 Austin Taxi(!)...I'm looking for something with a bit more.....go  Smiley
