Chris Amon 1943-2016

The man widely regarded to be the greatest driver to have never won a Grand Prix has passed away. The 1966 Le Mans winner is considered one of the most gifted drivers to ever sit behind the wheel of a racing car, far lesser drivers have become World Champion. Superb in both single seaters, and sports cars, he was one of the brightest stars of a golden era of the sport.
Rest in peace great Kiwi.

I can only second that. I saw an incredible performance from him in the 1976 Belgian GP in Zolder where he was about to score points for the completely underfinanced small Ensign Team. Once again bad luck hit and he had to retire the car.
A great racer! RIP, Chris Amon

A fine racer. Amazing amount of bad luck in F1.

RIP Chris.
'Was a fan back in the day. At least he had his "luck" with Ford in '66...albeit at the expense of Ken's triple crown.

I remember reading a interview with Chris once, and the interviewer mentioned how unlucky Chris had been, but Chris quickly remarked that he considered himself very lucky. He was still around, while many of his contemporaries were long gone.
Great racer...
