So... last night I went to Brad's gig with daughter Debby and wife Jan @ the local hotel only to find that Ian had masterminded a get-together of CA'ers to celebrate my impending significant birthday (not actually till late November but who cares about detail?? :-) )!! It was an amazing surprise, and a delight to see so many mates, and not even at a race meeting!! Having just got back from a trip to Germany I stuck with the draught Erdinger and by the end of the evening had consumed rather more than absolutely necessary, but I hope I managed to speak to all who were there and made it such a great and memorable evening - thanks for making the trip!!

Also a massive thanks to Ian (organiser-in-chief), Rusty (who presented me with the framed pic of me!) and Wishy (who organised the huge cake!) for their major efforts, and to Brad for providing some light background music!!  I imagine Ian will have some better pics to post, but here's one Jan took...

Happy Birthday Smokie! Looked like a happening party. Hope to see you at Sebring in March.
Like you, heavy head today, niece got married yesterday and little brother splurged for full bar...ugh!
Got to pull it together, going to Bengals game in a few hours.

All I did Smokie was to put the word out following a tip off from your lovely Daughter DEBBY, it was a great night, again, thank you for all your hard work in keeping the CA forum within the lines of respectability for so many years.. The resulting CA forum has given us life experiences at Le Mans, Sebring, Spa and many other events, it has formed friendships that will last a life time, we have supported each other in dark and difficult times, many people have benefited from good and professional advice from other members, and we have been able to give a little back through our charity collections and donations. None of this would have happened without you, so thank you mate, you are a hero.

Have a fab birthday when it finally rolls around.

Sorry I missed this Geoff, I trust you had a terrific evening. Sadly it coincided with my son's fourth birthday; a son who ultimately only exists due to a CA trip to DfH in Holland... so in a way it's your fault!  Evil

Catch you at LM in 2016, hopefully you'll be able to speak this time! (I suspect the Thursday night will forever remain a blur for you!).

Best wishes from The Zarses.
