New regs being applied it seems.

So if 1,000 BHP is the new limit then what are Porsche and Toyota actually developing from their power plants now?

I initially read the following extract on DSC and thought that this isn't a restriction on total bhp, but how much can be delivered in one go.

"The WMSC approved the Endurance Commission’s proposal to limit the releasable power for energy recovery systems in LMP1 cars on safety grounds, to “avoid the possibility of deployment of an instantaneous total power (engine + hybrid) of over 1000hp.” ..."
I will wait the revision to the technical rules to see hsow this has been interpreted

Porsche and Audi could write something into their software that would make it look like an instantaneous power increase of less than 1000bhp, whereas the ACTUAL figure is MUCH higher.

I see your line of thinking there - maybe it wasn't so much "Mission 2014" as "Emissions 2014" as in 2,014 g/km of CO2?

**UPDATE**

Seems that the 1,000 bhp limit applies to Le Mans only as a safety measure.

Didn't realise that the full course is only FIA Grade 2.
