Welcome to another LM virgin approaching deflowering. A couple of other nuggets of info.
1) Luggage carrying capacity in your vehicle is not necessary unless you want to take frame tent, swimming pool, gazebo, satellite telly and other sundries. For me the boot of my MGA carries everything I need to fall apart for a week with a mate.
2) Aside from watching illicitly on the Mulsanne (which you can also do legally over the fence in the garden of the cafe at Hunaudieres), remember that a good 2/3rds of the circuit is on public roads, which are open outside of the qualifying and race times. Thursday afternoon and Friday morning are good times, although after this year, the Friday morning is now more restricted with the old favourite of the mulsanne to indianapolis section (long favoured by the TVR and Lotus 7 brigade) closed off by the gendarmes.

Hi sconefinger
Two things.......taking a shagged out motor is no problem.Firstly you join the ACO club.Part of the package is roadside recovery to the nearest garage for repair......I know as I have used the service. If you want proof of shagged out motors. The piccy below my alias (artists impression) or my Espace of 310000 miles and it has now been to Le Mans 7 times.So.....the moral to the story is ,it doesen't matter what you take.
Just enjoy.

Another welcome Sconefinger from down here in the wilds of Le Pays de Galles. Just one thing to add to Wishy's recommendation re: ACO Club recovery - if you join, get a short course in La Francaise as you may need it in the event of having to use it. Now...... what was the word for driveshaft again?

I'm not too worried about breaking down, we have 3 top rally mechanics amongst our modest entourage, if we can't fix it we'll just leave it! Am worried about the language though, i have been and got one of those teach yourself french kits, its good to make an effort. Cannot find 'I was only doing a hundred officer, honest' in it anywhere, maybe need the 'advanced French for deviants' edition, does anyone on here have it?

Dont do it dont do it dont do it. Just go as little slower than the others, or speak no french, it may make it easier for you to get off.

'lets put a 440ci wedge in it with a 250 gallon tank and gun it none stop' direction) Tread carefully here Sconefinger - that's an American engine you're talking about there - and some folk really don't think a big block Mopar has any place on a forum such as this. Suggest a puny, gasping BMC four pot and you'll have friends for life in Portsmouth, however. Leaning on the armco on the Mulsanne straight (between Tetre Rouge and l'Arche) during the night, with race cars passing at 180mph+ (over 200 back in the '80's) is one of motor racing's most impressive experiences. Get onto the straight if you can - more difficult than it used to be - but well worth it, if you can tolerate the barbed wire entanglements and boggy terrain - and armed police, of course.

Matt , Unfortunatly you have only just found your catch, but alas , my new resolution is preventing me from eating your bait. My new fish , has a much nicer bite , with added bits, so i may not have to throw my catch over the side, well not just yet anyway. Although, had i had the chance to swop a big engine for a BMC engine, i would any time , but ....................

You are a good sport Robbo - even if I cannot decipher 50% of your postings! Happy New Year to you. No more Mini piss-taking - promise. My new years prediction is that you will be one of the first to launch a verbal salvo against braketest in the t shirt thread. Go on lad, let him have it with both barrels!!

I got to his post first, and after 10 hours kip , i am quite chilled out . To translate my post, Pulled a top looking gilrie on NYD at about 5 to 2 , and she has helped me channel my anger for the time being, untill she gets boring . Then i may not see her anymore..
