It's only the Portsmouth - Le Havre service that is being closed by DFDS, the remainder will continue to run.

Expect to see Brittany prices rise on the demise of their cut price oppostion....

Sorry, yes, forgot to highlight that "minor" detail.

You're right about Brittany Pirates, I can almost hear them chuckling with glee from where I'm sat.

Mind you they are also having to take their ships out of service one at a time to have some new particulate scrubbers fitted to the exhaust stacks and you can bet your bottom dollar that the cost of this EU Emissions compliance will cost the travelling public dearly.

Personally I'm going to use the tunnel again, especially as I can book now for £98 return.

Britney economie was the last nail in the coffin of LD.  It had two routes - Le Havre and Spain.  The Spanish one shut last week.

Economie is a bit cheaper than normal Britney, but with only a small café and no mention of a bar.  Its expensive with a caravan, so I'll be following Landman to Dover

I'd been considering taking a hit on the price and buying the Pompey trip for the 'less distance to drive option'

But I reckon I will be trying out Dunkirk rather than risking finding four stowaways hiding under the axle coming back via Calais

£79 instead of over £250 looks worth the extra toll payments

I will look into the peage zooming device too, not easy getting to the pay window in my Midget if the rain's coming down.

So

Four hours plus to Dover

Four more extra hours on the other side

Better set out on Tuesday rather than Wednnesday   Angry

Bill
I've had the t-libre gismo this year, costs a little more, but makes life so much easier if you are travelling by yourself, well worth the extra.
If you have a eurotunnel booking they were waving the joining fee. Even travelling with SWMBO was a lot less stressful with, than without it.

I used it last year (even though I went eurotunnel I still had to pay the joining fee). Though it was worth the joining fee to just cruise up to the toll and straight through. Some of them you can go through at 30KPH, thats nearly third gear in my car  Grin

Seems like the answer for singleton Brit Sports cars

I cant find a decent price for the tunnel, am I looking in the wrong places?

OK, I've just this second booked and it's cost me £98 return. The reason is that I'm going out on thursday at 8:50am and returning on Monday at 18:50. This is with their five day "Short stay saver fare" so if you go out on the wednesday you pay more. It's £49 each way rather than £73 each way Grin

Correct, sorry I was looking at Wednesday or earlier departures which don't qualify for the short stay deal.
