Got this mailing from my chum Lord a March (well, his butler)
The Goodwood Festival of Speed is just 10 days away and excitement is building in our little corner of West Sussex. Hot on the heels of an epic battle for victory at the Le Mans 24 Hours, Audi, Toyota and Porsche will all bring current LMP1 machinery to Goodwood.
Audi, which triumphed for the 13th time in 15 years after rivals Toyota and Porsche both led the race, will be represented by the R18 e-tron quattro and three-time Le Mans winner Andre Lotterer, who will tackle Goodwood’s iconic 1.16-mile Hillclimb during the weekend.
With ex-Formula 1 racers Anthony Davidson and Mark Webber going up against the R18 in Toyota and Porsche hybrid prototypes, and big names from the world of motorcycle road racing, touring cars and Indy car racing being added to the entry list, a treat is in store for all your senses.
I will be there all four days, anyone else?

I am reliably informed that the new 2015 Mustang will be there, which will be the first time it will be on public display in the UK. The second time will be at the Mustang 50th Celebration at The Silverstone Classic.

I'm there on the sunday, I've fortunately been offered full-on corporate hostility by a main sponsor.
I have a four day parking pass for Park P, right by Goodwood House and which I may not require (I stress MAY NOT!). If this turns out to be the case, can anyone use it over the four days?

Nope, that sounds about right.
Sorry Andy - I'm not for dressing up, which is why I've never done the Kinrara Enclosure, but enjoy!

Lucky to be in London this weekend and I am heading down on Sunday to Goodwood. Hasn't usually been an option for me being so close to LM and permit from the wife is usually used up before Goodwood.
Anyone got any advice time to arrive/parking what not to miss etc.

Enzo,
Arrive very very very early. You won't regret this advice. You are travelling to Sussex! It gets very busy coming down - especially on Sunday when the F1 fans come to see their gods. Sunday is very busy.
There are no good routes down that avoid the bottlenecks.
It's very slow getting out of the car parks, and the behaviour can be very bad, although there is a general migration once the F1 are done after about 3:30 pm. If you can, and the weather's kind, stay late. Prize giving at the end of Sunday usually includes a glass of champagne and cake if you stay right to the end. (I've eaten too many pieces of Lord March's cakes and watched my family scoff his champagne, so I will be off for a traditional end-of-Goodwood curry.)
There isn't a lot of shelter, so unless you have a grandstand, dress for a good variety of weather. If you have a grandstand, and they are roving, use Park opposite the house - it has the best views.
If you are watching the cars going up the hill, each batch normally runs twice on Sunday. I would watch the rally cars - you get to see some real car control.
There is a very good variety of food, but at a price of course (not as expensive as LM). The champagne is tempting, but, I think more expensive than LM.
Do not miss the Cartier Style et Lux or the Cathedral Paddock - there will be gems that you will not see elsewhere. The rally stage is also noteworthy, but takes a bit of effort. The chalk makes this very different from most other special stages.
If you fancy a being a passenger in a Porsche Cayanne around a muddy field or a drive of an Audi off-roader yourself (very challenging on wet chalk with road tyres), book as early as you can.
Make time to chat in the paddock with drivers and teams - they will be around when getting ready for or just after a run up the hill - this is one of the USPS about Goodwood - as there is no real racing, there's time to ask things like why the wheel fell off the Audi R8, what it was like to win LM IN 1971, how scared is the Pikes Peak now....?
The GAS - Goodwood Action Sports is good - these are the cycles and bikes getting air. Mini may have dodgers again - these are normally free so my family just goes again and again.
Lord March likes to innovate so I bet there will be something great that's brand new.
There's a lot to see in a day - but I hope you enjoy it.

By early, I like to leave Haslemere - 10 miles up the road - around 7:15 am on Sunday.
The cars usually start running at 9:00 I think.

@ Enzo : one day is hardly enough to see it all (as I've learned last year). Make sure to plan your day and select what you really want to see. We're staying at a hotel just outside Brighton, guess that means leaving at 6.30 or 7 am on Saturday and Sunday morning. If you spot someone with a CA hat with T10 pin (and polo, weather permitting), it's probably me  |
