Email from ACO...

We contact you regarding your order for Le Mans 2014.
As you’re not ACO member anymore you can’t keep the benefit of your status of “Regular Client”.
It means we automatically register the same booking of the previous year.

Um - do we think that's a typo, they mean can't keep my booking?

Seems like the ACO ticketing department have changed the rules on 'repeat booking'. On the one hand I can see the logic of extending benefits for ACO members, but at what cost? Pissing off hundreds of regulars who may have been coming for decades but have not decided to be ACO members or have let their memberships lapse.

A very short sighted decision in my opinion. I'll put the point to my contact in the ACO ticketing department but I don't hold much hope of a U-turn if history is anything to judge by.

That will upset a few people who don't go any more, but make a killing on ebay selling MB tickets.

Trust that's not aimed at me Barry!!! All my tickets have gone at cost to CA members!! One year I nearly lost out because an infrequent CA member pulled out of two tickets at a quite late stage and I hadn't been paid...

Anyway, the ACO have confirmed that my magicness will go without membership renewal. So my contacts here have been advised, as I am not going to become an ACO member in my own right. If anyone would be interested in cost price Bleu Nord tickets please PM me, cost of tickets, postage and membership would be equally split. I have till 6 November, but as I'm off with work to Africa on Saturday it would be infinitely preferable to sort it out before I go. (Last year's order was 5 tickets, Tom, Phil and Dottore, not sure if the ACO would allow me more but I can ask, if any interest).

Of course not Smokie!!
I apologise if you thought it was. Embarrassed
We know all your spare tickets have always gone to CA members at face value.
Just commenting because you see the same names on ebay every year selling MB tickets

yes it seems like the ACO are determind to break up long term groups because of a few ebay touts (good to see them loose out at last knockings) which means that many of us who have benifited from Smokies absence will have to get off our arse and get screwed by their besties if we do not get it together. At least they let us know now.

Nah no offence taken really Barry :-)

Its agreed, ACO membership to be renewed. I may be buying one of these if I get to Sebring next year, it'd look good in Le Mans eh?

Amazon UK £190 cheapest

Amazon.com $107, or $130 for 6 man (probably plus some tax)

I bought the smaller version of that tent this year and it is excellent.

Due to being in my twilight years I decided I was time to buy a tent that I could stand up to get dressed in rather  than the Quequa tents where you have to lie down and wrestle to get dressed. Grin

Flights and trains seem a lot cheaper than the used to be. Either that or after 4 years I've forgotten what they actually cost  Grin
