With all due respect guys, why would anyone want to hear turbines again?  They're as dull sounding as the oil burners.  Jet turbines have ruined the sport of unlimited hydroplane racing.  They used to have the throaty roar of RR Merlins,, now just a montone whine.
Personally I always loved the bark & crackle of a DFV, the scream of a Ferrari, or Alfa flat 12, or the bellow of a unlimited boost turbo offy, but those days are long gone.

I love the sounds of which you speak.

But I am a race fan ('have participated in my small way..) and have an appreciation for whatever works, The Howmet was not a major effort. The Indycars ('67 and '68) were.

'Understanding the "excitement" of the sound of race cars; I am more interested in the tech...

'Nuff said. Smiley

You see that is what happens when you legalise cannabis.

Usually on tractor pulling the big wheels are on the rear Fran Wink

This film should be played at high volume, so don't come complaining about it! And who the hell is Steve?

No Fran, the exhausts are pointed upwards so the blast exits in front of and above the driver. Personally I favour the 3 Allison engines or 5 supercharged Chevy route for power when it comes to tractor pulling but turbines are also impressive. Each Chevy putting out around 2500 HP. Grin

my dutch mate told me they put pots of lavender in front of the intakes so the driver gets a nice smelling bouffant.
